Nick Cave & Warren Ellis Remastered and Released on Vinyl for the First Time

The beautiful, brooding and haunting Original Soundtrack to ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford’ will be released for the first time on vinyl on 19th April by Mute / BMG.

This is the second in a line of remastered Nick Cave and Warren Ellis film soundtracks released on vinyl.

Charting the lives of gunslinger Jesse James (played by Brad Pitt) and the jealous Robert Ford (Casey Affleck), who plots to kill him, the music ranges from soft folk piano, strings and guitar (‘Cowgirl’) to achingly melodic piano and violin (‘What Must Be Done’). Often understated but always affecting, the music follows the director Andrew Dominik’s film from its dreamlike opening, through the gang’s adventures, to the mournful conclusion.

The score was the second collaboration for film between Cave and Ellis, a member of The Bad Seeds and Grinderman, as well as the frontman of instrumental rock trio The Dirty Three. They have since created soundtracks to ‘Dias de Gracia’, ‘Lawless’, ‘Loin des Hommes’, ‘Hell Or High Water’, ‘Wind River’ and ‘Kings’.
