Kew The Music announce another heavyweight act for 2020
The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew announce another heavyweight act for Kew the Music’s 2020 line-up. The godfather of garage is heading to the capital for DJ Spoony presents Garage Classical with a host of surprise special guests.
Of his headlining show, DJ Spoony says, “The challenge for Garage Classical is to keep on raising the bar, raising the roof. Well I’m so happy to say it’s going to be impossible to do the latter at our next show as Garage Classical goes open air at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Expect another majestic performance from the Garage Classical crew. Ignition Orchestra are ready, Katie Chatburn is ready and I cannot wait.”
Garage Classical began in 2017 with the seamless partnership between DJ Spoony and composer Katie Chatburn. After a string of successful live shows in the UK, the combination of classical and garage music made its way to the mainstream.
Fast forward to October 2019, DJ Spoony stunned the nation with the release of album Garage Classical, teamed with Chatburn and the 36-piece Ignition Orchestra. The same month, he brought his high-octane Garage Classical show to London’s iconic venue, The Royal Albert Hall, in a celebration of the garage era.
Packed full of re-imagined classics such as ‘Flowers’, ‘21 Seconds’ and ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’, Garage Classical features vocals from iconic artists such as Sugababes, Paloma Faith, Lily Allen, Emeli Sandé, Raleigh Ritchie and many more.
The popularity of garage since its inception over 20 years ago, when it swept over the airwaves, clubs, charts and streets of Britain, has stayed strong. DJ Spoony is one of the key players, keeping the genre alive and inspiring a new generation of garage artists.
Now, DJ Spoony Presents Garage Classical is coming Kew Gardens, bringing music fans a high-energy show and a re-ignited passion for garage, but with a classical twist…
Already announced for Kew the Music 2020 are James Blunt (8 July), Jack Savoretti (9 July), Will Young + James Morrison (10 July) and Gipsy Kings (12 July). The final headliner for 7 July is to be announced.
Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink, or to enjoy refreshments at the open-air bars and tasty street food stalls. For music lovers of all generations, a sensational summer awaits.
