Iconic record label Decca’s 90thanniversary exhibition at Village Green
Metal is proud to host the Decca 90 anniversary exhibition at Chalkwell Hall during Village Green on Saturday 13 July. Founded in 1929, Decca became known as The Supreme Record Company and it has been an iconic label ever since. Village Green is the only opportunity outside London to see the exhibition.
The exhibition traces the history of the prestigious label from its formation to the present day. Decca, now part of the Universal Music group, has a unique character, an illustrious past and an exciting future. The label that signedDavid Bowie and releasedPavorotti’s ground-breaking recordings, is now home to Irish singer and songwriterImelda May and superstar cellist ShekuKanneh-Mason and an extensive roster of some of the finest artists in the world. As Decca celebrates its 90thanniversary with a year-long series of releases, concerts and events, its pop up exhibition comes to Village Green to show why its early mission statement of being “The Supreme Record Company” is as relevant today as ever.
Decca 90 has come to Village Green thanks to its long-standing compere and Middle Age Spread DJ Daryl Easlea, who, in his other life is a writer, music consultant and the Curator of Decca’s 90th anniversary.
