Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall FURTHER ARTISTS ANNOUNCED

Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall are happy to announce Dreadzone, Wildwood Kin and Don Letts as support acts for “A Beautiful Night Out” featuring and curated by English folk-rockers Levellers.

They are the newest additions to an already jampacked week of entertainment at the Royal Albert Hall. Multi award-winning collective Rudimental kick off the week of shows on 25th March with special guests including grime artist Ghetts. Following An Evening of Comedy on 25th, Take That take to the stage on 26th, Tom Grennan on 27th, alternative legends Doves the following day, and the pop/rock trio The Script on 30th March.

Money raised by these shows supports Teenage Cancer Trust, the only charity dedicated to making sure young people diagnosed with cancer get the expert treatment and personalised support they need.

Dreadzone are arguably one of the most energetic, exciting and powerful live bands to emerge from the post-rave scene. Dreadzone have steadily been releasing albums and refining their unique and inimitable take on dub since their inception in 1993. The band’s 8th studio album Dread Times stormed into the Top 40 UK Official Album Charts on release in 2017 – the first time the band have charted in over 20 years. The album also made the Top 10 in the Indie and Dance charts. Still going strong after 25 years they have also long been considered one of the UK’s best live bands and Beautiful Days festival favourites.

Devon family trio Wildwood Kin’s sound is characterized by extraordinary harmonies. Their brilliant debut album, while influenced by their early folk leanings delved deeply into other genres and boasted inventive sonics and spectral atmospherics alongside their hypnotic three-part harmonies. Guitarist Emilie, her bouzouki/keyboard-playing sister Beth and their drumming cousin Meghann all sing, swapping leads and joining forces on harmonies. Most recently they have been in the studio working on their second album due out in May 2019.

Performing a classic DJ set spanning reggae, ska, punk and more is film-maker, broadcaster and founder member of Big Audio Dynamite Don Letts, who first spun reggae tunes between punk acts way back in the seventies. Don Letts’ reputation has been firmly established in both the film and music world by a substantial body of work from the late 70s through the 80s, 90s and well into the millennium. He came to notoriety in the late 70s as the DJ that single-handedly turned a whole generation of punks onto reggae.

Levellers will end the night with a full electric set as part of the “A Beautiful Night Out”, a one-day version of their award-winning grass roots festival Beautiful Days. Levellers have had 11 Top 40 albums, including a number one with 1995’s Zeitgeist, and 14 Top 40 singles. Their landmark 1991 album, Levelling The Land, spent 38 weeks in the Top 100 album charts over a three year period. The band released We The Collective produced by John Leckie (Radiohead, The Stone Roses) in Spring 2018 which entered the Top 20 on release – the band’s highest chart position for over 20 years. This very special show at the Royal Albert Hall follows the band’s 30th anniversary celebrations this year.

Every penny Teenage Cancer Trust raises goes towards putting a spotlight on the thousands of young people living with cancer across the UK. The services provided treat people as individuals – the young person first and the cancer diagnosis second.

2019’s impressive line-up adds to an extraordinary legacy that has seen unique, once in a lifetime performances like Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn performing together for the first time ever in 2013, Sir Paul McCartney in 2012, plus everyone from Muse to The Cure, Tinie Tempah, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, Kasabian, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Olly Murs, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Sir Tom Jones and many more. And, of course, some of the greatest concerts of the past 20 years from The Who.

This year’s shows are generously supported by sponsors Tangle Teezer and American Airlines.

Further incredible support is provided by media partners Absolute Radio and Metro.

The Strokes COMPLETE THE OPENING WEEKEND’S HEADLINERS OF ALL POINTS EAST 2019

All Points East returns for a stellar second year to Tower Hamlet’s Victoria Park, following a sold-out 2018 debut that established a new and essential music event in central London. Today, All Points East is excited to announce the full line up for weekend one – an unmissable three days at Victoria Park showcasing the world’s finest alternative acts.

Following on from the previously announced headliners – The Chemical Brothers (Friday 24th May), Bon Iver (Sunday 2nd June), Christine and The Queens (Sunday 26 May) and Bring Me The Horizon (Friday 31st May) – All Points East can reveal the latest headliner joining the bill is the iconic New York rockers The Strokes, who will perform on Saturday 25th May 2019 – the band’s first performance in the UK for 4 years.

Also announced are further special guests making up the opening weekend’s stellar line up. From the experimental sounds of James Blake, Jon Hopkins (Live) and Róisín Murphy to the most in-demand DJs such as Peggy Gou, Moxie and Andrew Weatherall – plus of course the outstanding headliners in The Chemical Brothers, The Strokes and Christine and The Queens – All Points East has once again positioned itself as one of London’s finest festivals.

2018’s inaugural year saw headline shows from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The National, LCD Soundsystem, Björk, The xx and Catfish and the Bottlemen with an astronomical supporting line up across two weekends of award-winning music.

Few bands since the turn of the 21st century have been so influential and illustrious as The Strokes, a group whose 2001 debut album Is This It still remains one of music’s most celebrated long players – featuring at the top of countless publications’ lists of best albums of all time.

The group’s subsequent four LPs (Room On Fire, First Impressions Of Earth, Angles, Comedown Machine) and headline shows across the globe has seen their profile continue to rise – also buoyed by their respective individual projects and collaborations – with lead singer Julian Casablancas even linking up with French electronic pioneers Daft Punk on their UK #1 album, Random Access Memories.

It has been the UK who has arguably most embraced The Strokes and their music throughout the years, making their ‘homecoming’ performance at Victoria Park all the more special and anticipated.

The Raconteurs made their long overdue return in December with two new singles – “Sunday Driver” and “Now That You’re Gone” – both highlighting why the band’s past work is held in such high regard. Now they are set to make their first UK performance since 2008 at All Points East, with their forthcoming album sure to be showcased. The group’s frontman Jack White also has a strong connection to The Strokes, even joining them onstage in 2002 for a special performance of The Strokes’ classic hit  “New York City Cops” – a moment that has gone down in rock folklore. Here’s hoping for a repeat at Victoria Park…

Like headliners The Strokes, Interpol are another iconic New York band that emerged from the post punk revival of the 2000s. The group, spearheaded by Paul Banks, recently released Marauder, their first album in 4 years – and expect to hear singles such as “Number 10” and “The Rover” alongside hits from their extensive back-catalogue.

Also performing is Johnny Marr – best known from The Smiths fame and is considered one of Britain’s finest ever guitarists, Rough Trade signees Parquet Courts, who are no doubt one of many bands that take inspiration from headliners The Strokes, English musician, actor, presenter and former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and the ever-eccentric and prolific Connan Mockasin.

They’re joined by Anna Calvi – whose 2018 album Hunter was one of the year’s most celebrated releases – Bakar, dubbed “the next-gen rockstar” by i-D and counts fans in the likes of Skepta and Elton John, rising psych-rock band The Nude Party and unapologetic punk outfit Viagra Boys – who left their mark in 2018 via their excellent debut release, Street Worms.

All Points East is also excited to announce further names to the opening weekend’s bill.

Joining The Chemical Brothers on Friday 24th May is another electronic maestro Jon Hopkins – who will be bringing his immersive, multisensory live show to Victoria Park – as well as Peggy Gou (Presents Gou Talk), Róisín Murphy, David August, Lane 8, Optimo, Petite Noir, Maurice Fulton, Josey Rebelle, Ge-ology and DMX Krew.

On Sunday 26th May, Christine and the Queens will be joined by James Blake – who’s just stunned the world with his fourth LP Assume Form – plus Kamasi Washington, Princess Nokia, Bob Moses, Andrew Weatherall, Yves Tumor (full band), Joy Orbison, Moxie (Presents On Loop), Octo Octa, Galcher Lustwerk and Paquita Gordon.

East London’s beautiful Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets also hosted a hugely popular 4-day community focused midweek event last year. Kicking off on the second Bank Holiday Monday, In The Neighbourhood is set to return across the half term week for 2019. Featuring free access to the All Points East site, In The Neighbourhood will host a vibrant programme of activities and entertainment, in collaboration with the local community, businesses, organisations and suppliers. From free Outdoor Cinema, Live Music and Entertainment, Street Food to Pop Up Bars, Theatre, Arts, Sports & Wellbeing, Children’s Activities and much more.

Seven Decades 'The Story Of Three Guitars That Changed The World'

Guitar fanatics started 2019 with an exciting weekend at an iconic setting with Seven Decades shows running from 11th-13th January at The V&A Museum.

The one weekend only limited run consisted of five sold-out shows, which included two matinee performances, and three evening shows. All performances ended with standing ovations from the audience.

The first performance on the evening of 11th January, was a unique extended performance, and included an exclusive panel discussion on the electric guitar’s enduring impact on popular culture.

The panel featured Bill Curbishley manager of The Who, Brix Smith Start lead guitarist and song-writer in The Fall and lead vocalist and guitarist in her band Brix And The Extricated, Johnny Borrell guitarist and vocalist of Razorlight and Kevin Brennan MP the Shadow Minister for Heritage & Arts and guitarist for parliamentary band MP4. Will Hodgkinson, author of Guitar Man and chief rock and pop critic at The Times newspaper, hosted the panel.

Discussing with Will Hodgkinson in front of a live audience, the panel shared anecdotes from the stage and wisdom and tips for budding guitarists. Johnny Borrell talked about writing his first song when grounded in his brothers bedroom, Kevin Brennan MP took a break from on-going Brexit drama to talk about how Conservatives love heavy metal, Brix spoke about how the guitar empowers and Bill Curbishley spoke about replacing Pete Towsnhend’s guitars.

‘You don’t have to be technically proficient to start… there’s loads of people that are technically really good (at guitar) they tend to work in guitar shops!’ Johnny Borrell

‘The first guitar I ever bought… it was a Gibson that Pete Townshend hit the monitor man over the head with and then smashed – I had to replace that for the next show!”Bill Curbishley

‘I play in a cross party band with a Tory drummer, an SNP keyboard player and a labour bass player and a labour guitarist and singer, but funnily enough most Tories seem to be into heavy metal!’ Kevin Brennan MP

‘The guitar is a way to express myself and infect peoples minds, standing up there and holding a guitar is like holding a lightning bolt throwing machine whoooooosh’ Brix Smith-Start

Looking back on the performances creator Phillip Hylander commented:
‘Thank you to the 1,700 + of you who came out on the weekend to support our show at the V&A museum. We had such an incredible time playing to five brilliant audiences and truly appreciated five consecutive standing ovations! Seven Decades is planning a major theatrical release soon, watch this space.’

Celine Dion To headline BST Hyde Park for her only European date of 2019

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park announces a titanic headliner to kick off the 2019 event – the legendary Canadian vocal powerhouse – Celine Dion.

Celine Dion has sold over 240 million records worldwide (more than any other BST Hyde Park headliner to date) and is renowned for incredible live shows and a monumental vocal range. She will be one of the most unforgettable acts to have ever graced the Great Oak Stage in Hyde Park.

Her headlining performance will come just a month after the end of her second record-breaking Las Vegas residency Celine on 8 June 2019.

“It’s my first time doing a show in beautiful Hyde Park…. I’m so excited.  I love London, and it’s a great honour for me to be part of the Barclaycard presents BST Hyde Park concerts. I can’t wait…. summertime in London, here we come!”

One of the most successful female artists of all time, she has been performing and recording music for over 35 years and possesses one of the most powerful and moving voices in popular music history.

Celine achieved worldwide fame after releasing several best-selling albums such as Falling Into You and Let’s Talk About Love, both of which were certified diamond in the US. She also scored a series of worldwide number ones, including The Power of Love, Think Twice, Because You Loved Me, It’s All Coming Back to Me Now and Titanic’s iconic soundtrack My Heart Will Go On.

She has built her reputation as a trailblazer and era-defining live performer with her now legendary Vegas residency A New Day…, which remains the highest-grossing concert residency of all time – closely followed by her second headlining residency Celine, which kicked off in 2011 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

Celine Dion has won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year. Billboard named her the “Queen of Adult Contemporary” and in 2003, Dion was honoured by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry for selling over 50 million albums in Europe. Celine Dion remains the best-selling Canadian artist and one of the best-selling artists of all time. In 2016, Celine received the Billboard Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Icon Award.

In the summer of 2017, Celine embarked on a European tour, with 25 sold-out shows in 15 cities across Europe and the UK. She broke records across the United Kingdom as the highest-grossing artist at each UK venue and garnered critical acclaim. She also topped the US Dance Club charts in July 2018 with the remix of her single Ashes from the film Deadpool 2.

This year Celine Dion is returning to the UK and will headline Hyde Park for the very first time on the Great Oak Stage on Friday 5th July 2019 – her only European show of the year. Tickets go on special fan pre-sale on 23rd January 2019 at 9am (check celinedion.com for details), Barclaycard presents British Summer Time fan pre-sale Friday 25th at 9am (check www.bst-hydepark.com/) and on general sale on 29th January 2019 at 9am.

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2019 is back for another year of unique shows and unforgettable music moments, for the 7th year.

Already announced for Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2019 are Florence and the Machine (13th July) and Robbie Williams (14th July).

Last year continued the tradition of must-see experiences that have included The Rolling Stones return to Hyde Park, Carole King play her classic album Tapestry in full for the first time ever, comebacks for The Strokes and The Libertines, Stevie Wonder play Songs in The Key Of Life and many more.

2018 saw amazing days and nights with Roger Waters, Bruno Mars, Michael Bublé, The Cure, Eric Clapton and Paul Simon’s last ever UK concert.

James King, Senior Vice President, AEG Presents comments:

“Celine’s record-breaking career has seen her perform her many iconic songs on the globe’s most iconic stages, yet never before in Hyde Park. It is therefore with the utmost excitement that we are bringing Celine Dion to Hyde Park for her only European show of 2019.”

Daniel Mathieson, Head of Experiential Marketing and Partnerships for Barclaycard, says: “We are incredibly proud to be hosting such a huge icon this year. Celine is one of the most celebrated and respected musicians of all time and it will be a privilege to have her perform alongside what is shaping up to be a fantastic set of headliners. We are looking forward to seeing her bring some of her biggest hits to Hyde Park and it remains to be seen whether there will be a dry eye in the house after such a titanic performance.”

Alun Mainwaring, Head of Events and Filming at The Royal Parks says:

“This summer we are very excited to be welcoming Celine Dion to Barclaycard presents British Summer Time. Celine is one of the world’s most recognised female artists, with a multi award-winning career spanning several decades and her performance in Hyde Park will certainly delight her huge amount of loyal fans. The line-up this summer for the two weekends of concerts is phenomenal with world renowned artists taking to the iconic Great Oak stage. Bang Bang Romeo release 'Bag Of Bones' single

Bang Bang Romeo have big things planned for this year, their first ever UK headline tour, the release of their debut album, a 16 date European & UK stadium support tour with pop legend P!NK, countless European festivals …. world domination. But before all of that, to get 2019 really started they’ve just unleashed their new single ‘Bag Of Bones’ and the accompanying video.

Watch here: https://youtu.be/zLKCg6avsyI

Filmed in London, the band worked with Trigger Happy’s Dom Joly and Matt Campion to bring the story of ‘Bag Of Bones’ to life. The video follows a woman returning to her childhood bedroom to deal with her personal demons. It tackles gender politics, self-identity and sees the character owning her own androgyny with confidence. With lead singer Stars being a strong and open voice for the LGBTQ+ community the song’s message is one that comes from the heart. The band have been encouraging fans to get involved with this message using their hashtag #somuchmore.

The band commented about the track:
“In a world where we’re told to conform and align ourselves into categories, we say, unapologetically, “no”. To anyone feeling they may not be ‘normal’ in the eyes of today’s society, or feel as though they were just put here to wake up, work, and be this vessel that everyone else wants them to be, we would like to remind you that you are not just a Bag of Bones, you are so much more. ‘Bag of Bones’ is the second offering from our debut album ‘A Heartbreaker’s Guide To The Galaxy’ out June 14th. The single is also our first release of the year, so to say we’re excited about it is a total understatement. “

Dom Joly commented “I was blown away by Anastasia’s voice when I first heard this track. I loved the fact that this was a rock band fronted by a woman and really wanted to make the video. We kept the company concept pretty simple as the band’s power sort of speaks for itself. It was an easy shoot and I’m a big fan of the band and their sound.”

Bang Bang Romeo release their debut album ‘A Heartbreaker’s Guide To The Galaxy‘ on 14th June 2019 via Eleven Seven Label Group. They embark on their first ever UK headline tour next month.

WARNER CLASSICS and the NATIONAL THEATRE announce the digital download and streaming release of Stephen Sondheim’s legendary musical FOLLIES – 2018 National Theatre Cast Recording this Friday, January 18th.
The critically-acclaimed musical tells the story of the former performers of Weismann’s Follies, reunited for the first time in their theatre which is to be demolished the next day. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves. The show includes musical hits such as Losing My Mind and Broadway BabyI’m Still Here.
Following its 2018 Olivier Award wins for Best Musical Revival and Best Costume Design and a sold out run at the National Theatre, the original cast and orchestra behind FOLLIES release its much-anticipated London Cast Recording. FOLLIES returns to the National Theatre’s Olivier Theatreon February 12th 2019.
Director of FOLLIES and Associate of the National Theatre Dominic Cooke said: “Directing FOLLIES has been a privilege. It is a heart-breaking, universal piece and the National Theatre committed epic resources to realise it. One of the most renowned names on the current electronic music scene joins the Doctor Music Festival line-up

A powerful love for electronic music and the most recent cutting-edge trends has flowed through the veins of Doctor Music Festival since its inception.

This genre of artistic expression remains strong and constant in the Reincarnation Edition, with performances from both legendary electronic artists and new talents, such as The Blaze.

International critics all around the world have been astounded by the musical genius of The Blaze

“Epic, rough-hewed emotional landscapes that surge and yearn, pulsing thickly with sun-streaked, blurry edges. It is body music — dance music — but it works subcutaneously, operating on the level of emotion and thought more than movement.” – The New York Times

“Somebody give The Blaze an Oscar already” – Fader

“Their lucid electronica dazzles” – NME

“Another demonstration of their boundless ability to make carefully crafted and beautiful work.” – The Line of Best Fit

“An angelic offering with distinctive beats…” – Clash

“The Blaze explore humanity with some of the best videos you’ve seen.” – Noisey

The Blaze is a French duo, made up of Guillaume and Jonathan Alric, both music producers and film directors. Their story first began with the debut single ‘Virile’, in 2016. They later released their first EP – ‘Territory’ –  in April 2017, followed by ‘Heaven’ at the beginning of 2018, the first single and video from their acclaimed debut album, ‘Dancehall’. The ambiguity of their music and films is what makes this band so appealing and magnetic. Their music opens the gates to a constant waterfall of the some of the most disparate human emotions.

What’s more, when playing live, The Blaze turns into something even more spectacular. After having played at some of the most prestigious festivals in the world in 2018, they have been able to transcend borders, continuing their tour across the pond to the USA, achieving overwhelming success in New York in particular, with sold out shows!

The Doctor Music Festival 2019 line-up is spreading its wings to become one of the most interesting international offerings of the year, with performances from the likes of: ÂME, The Blaze, Carl Craig, Charlotte De Witte, The Chemical Brothers, Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones, Parov Stelar, The Prodigy, Richie Hawtin CLOSE, DJ Tennis and for the first time ever in festival history, 3 amazing performances from the Welsh duo Underworld.

Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting news to come!

Y Not Festival launch sustainability scheme

Y Not Festival is back! We return to the beautiful setting of the Peak District this July  after a fantastic 2018 and to kick things off this year, we’re putting the focus on the most precious part of the festival – our environment.

Our new campaign ‘Keep The Peaks Green’ aims to target sustainability for the festival by cutting out plastic, boosting on recycling and reducing our landfill waste. We are encouraging customers to hand in litter to us, take tents home with them or sign up to use tents already on site at the new Pitch Village.

Though there isn’t a more idyllic spot for Y Not, we recognise that running a festival on this site has a direct impact, both positive and negative, on the natural environment. So, we are making even bigger efforts to be sustainable and kind to the earth with the launch of our new ‘Keep The Peaks Green’ campaign. The scheme offers a number of ways both the festival and you can be savvier and more sustainable with your plastic use, litter and even your tents! The new implementations for Y Not Festival 2019 include:

Litter Bond
We are introducing a Litter Bond once tickets are on sale on Tuesday 29th January. This means that ALL bookings will have a compulsory £10 deposit per booking. All you need to do is hand in a bag of rubbish at the festival and you will be reimbursed a tenner!

Plastics
Following suit from last year, all single used plastics are prohibited for our traders. We’ll also be bringing back our 10p cup scheme, for every cup you collect and hand in – we’ll give you 10p!

Tents
We’re introducing our new camping zone Pitch Village for the first time in the festival’s history. Here we will provide you with a tent, put it up for you and put it back down. By choosing Pitch Village, you won’t need to pack anything away at the end of the weekend – phew!

Aside from handing in your litter and cups to us, there are even more small things you can do to make a big difference and help keep the Peaks green!

Cut down the plastic you bring – please try not to bring single used plastic bottles. Bring refillable water bottles, and we have water points all over the site to make it nice and easy.

Take your tent home – leaving your tent to go into landfill has huge environmental impact. If you can pack up and take your tent home to use again, that one of the most beneficial things you can do to help the environment.

For more information on our scheme, please visit www.ynotfestival.com

Line up news for 2019 is coming this February. Keep a look out!

Back for its 14th year this summer, Y Not will take place in Pikehall, Derbyshire from 25th-28th July. Since 2005, when it began life as a houseparty spilling over into deepest Derbyshire, the event has remained home grown and true to its roots. With panoramic countryside views, a fully stocked bar of local ales, a mouth-watering selection of food and more live music than you can shake a stick at… Y Notis a whole weekend of good music, good food and care-free fun in the middle of the beautiful Peak District.

Y Not Festival organisers have said, “We are lucky enough to have the stunning setting of the Peak District as our site and so it’s integral that we protect it for years to come. The ‘Keep The Peaks Green’ scheme offers plenty of opportunity to do this in simple yet effective ways and we’re really looking forward to customers getting on board!”

Last year’s festival included The Libertines, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Jamiroquai, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and many more. Line up for 2019 are to be announced next month.

For 2018, Y Notmoved to their new and improved site on Aston Hill Farm, adjacent to the previous site on Mouldridge Lane. The festival took place in the unbeatable setting of the Peak District and the benefits of the location include clearer routes for festival-goers and improved access for service vehicles.

In addition to the site change, Y Not have continued their ongoing communications about improvements, following on from their 2018 Manifesto. This includes the site, staffing, security and traffic management.

THE WHO TO RELEASE FIRST ALBUM OF NEW MATERIAL IN 13 YEARS

Fifty-five years after they made their first recordings, the legendary rock band The Who is back in the studio working on their first new album in 13 years due for release later this year.

Speaking about the US tour Roger Daltrey commented: “Be aware Who fans! That just because it’s The Who with an Orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”

Doctor Music Festival announces first wave of artists

Doctor Music Festival announces first wave of artists

FacebookTwitter

Doctor Music Festival has announced its first wave of artists for the ‘reincarnation edition’ of the festival in 2019 including a pioneering idea where a number of acts will perform at numerous times throughout the festival.

Both KING CRIMSON and UNDERWORLD will perform three different sets at the festival. A pioneering idea that will allow the public to have more than one opportunity to see the shows they like and, in addition, the greatest fans will be able to see their favourite artist more than once.

These two big names will join the line-up to offer for the first time and exclusively three different shows in the same festival, in what will be one of the initiatives of the DMF to reduce the anxiety generated among the public by the worry of missing any of the key concerts of a festival. As explained recently in an interview in Mondo Sonoro Neo Sala, Director of the DMF: “The fact of going to a festival and having to run to go and catch someone play… Our festival will not be an accumulation of concerts, a collection of cards… I do not want people to have the feeling that they will miss something out something if they do not run… the famous FOMO effect (“fear of missing out”) that you get in those big events will be notoriously reduced at the Doctor Music Festival”.

The artists have received with great enthusiasm this innovative initiative and in this regards, Robert Fripp (founder and undisputed leader of King Crimson) recently made these statements: “In strange and uncertain times there are moments in which a reasonable person could despair. But hope is unreasonable, and the power of music to unite people is a good reason to have some hope. King Crimson has the privilege to perform three times at the Doctor Music Festival. Each setlist will be different but, until the morning of the show, we won’t know how it will be”.

The best representation of the highest levels of music of all genres reaches the line-up of the Doctor Music Festival 2019. An edition to enjoy artists who are already legends and others who will soon be, as it happened in previous editions. Music to dance under the stars that can almost be touched. The most diverse names of all genres and eras will arrive at Escalarre on July 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th. The highest musical quality for all tastes and styles will once again be one of the hallmarks of the Doctor Music Festival.

The new edition of the festival will feature pioneering initiatives such as three different shows that will be offered by bands such as King Crimson and Underworld; novel and different experiences such as an hologram of Frank Zappa that we will be able to see in The Bizarre World of Frank Zappa or Albert Pla and Los Sujetadores with a super band specially created for the occasion.

In 2019 we will have the trendiest artists such as RosalíaParquet CourtsGreta Van Fleet or Viva Suecia, along with the exquisite timeless rock of The Smashing PumpkinsThe StrokesPrimal ScreamThe Sisters of Mercy or the excellence of the super group The Good The Bad and The Queen.

With electronic music as part of the DNA of the Festival, that one day opened the party in Escalarre, we will have great exponents such as the pioneers The Prodigy with its unique electronic punk rock or a reference name like Richie Hawtin amongst many others.

A carefully curated and eclectic line-up where we could not miss the best in modern metal with powerful bands like SabatonOpeth or TesseracT, which will soon be joined by more names.

Four days for the authentic lovers of music, nature and of vital experiences that will make the public enjoy much more than just concerts.

Sustainability, innovation and special experiences will make this festival something unique and different. The magical getaway for the days 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th of July. Four days in a place so perfect that will seem unreal; without tension, without stress, with authentic food, in an ideal campsite and with all the facilities for all budgets. All this can be found in the Marketplace of doctormusicfestival.com available from tomorrow 20 of December.

To this first advance of the line-up more names will join in the first months of 2019 until completing the final line-up of the Reincarnation Edition of the Doctor Music Festival.

Do not miss out on what is to come… this has only just begun! Many more acts TBA.
The complete line-up will be released in early 2019.

Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited Acquires Tricky Stewart Catalogue

The Board of Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited and its Investment Adviser, The Family (Music) Limited, are pleased to announce that the Company has acquired a music catalogue from Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, an American record producer, songwriter, music publisher and multiple Grammy winner. The Company has acquired a 100% interest in the catalogue including ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) income.

The catalogue comprises 121 songs in total, including 8 US Top 10 Pop singles, 3 US Number 1 Pop singles and multiple Grammy winners. It is highly complementary to The-Dream catalogue, which was acquired by the Company on 11 July 2018, as Tricky co-wrote many of the most important songs in that catalogue including Umbrella (Rihanna), Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) (Beyoncé), Baby (Justin Bieber), Me Against The Music (Britney Spears & Madonna) and Touch My Body (Mariah Carey).

In addition to songs co-written with The-Dream the catalogue includes numerous other songs with Katy Perry from one of her most successful albums, Teenage Dream, and other songs with Christina Aguilera, Rick Ross, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger and Ciara.

Merck Mercuriadis, Founder of The Family (Music) Limited and Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited, said:

“This is a tremendously important acquisition for Hipgnosis and me. In addition to giving us greater ownership of multiple Grammy Award winning Number 1 songs like Rihanna’s Umbrella and Beyoncé’s Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) we are also reuniting the catalogues of Tricky Stewart and The-Dream who are arguably the finest song-writing duo of their time. These songs are big pop successes but it’s sophisticated music of the highest order and these songs are already classics not to mention by the culturally most important artists of their time. Tricky is a tremendous individual, writer, producer and musician whose work backs up all of the tremendous accolades and success. This is family!”

Tricky Stewart, said:

“There is a right way and wrong way to do everything.  The sale of my catalog to Hipgnosis is right for me. Selling to a friend who is fuelled by purpose, motivated to do great things, with a disruptive spirit and vigour caught my attention, and ultimately led to me completing this transaction.  I’m truly blessed to have these kinds of options in my life and for that WE GIVE GOD THE GLORY. Over the next 5 years I will be creating another catalog filled with Hits and culture, and I’ll do it all over again! I love music and music loves me.”

Mark E. Stewart – Tricky Stewart’s Manager – commented:

“When Trick and I discussed selling his catalog, Merck was the first person I heard from.  Merck and Hipgnosis are definitely buyers that have respect for the songs and for the writers who created them, and even the stories behind the creations.  Merck is a music man first, but happens to make deals with the utmost respect for the creator.

Closing a major transaction like this with a man like Merck made perfect sense because of our long lasting working relationship. I congratulate him and Hipgnosis on another great acquisition.”

“A BOWIE CELEBRATION” JANUARY 2019 EUROPEAN TOUR DATES TO CELEBRATE BOWIE’S GLASTONBURY 2000 PERFORMANCE

World-renowned Bowie keyboardist Mike Garson is excited to announce that the January tour dates for A BOWIE CELEBRATION will celebrate David Bowie’s Glastonbury 2000 performance which was described by the NME as;

“Not only the greatest Glastonbury headline performance but the best headline slot at any festival ever”

The legendary Bowie Glastonbury 2000 performance which featured Garson, Mark Plati and Earl Slick from the A Bowie Celebration band, was recently released to huge critical acclaim.

Mike Garson’s studio and home burned to the ground in the tragic Southern California fires earlier this month, but he was determined that the tour still go ahead and that it specifically celebrate the incredible night of June 25th 2000 when Bowie performed an astounding greatest hits set to hundreds of thousands of delirious fans.

This month alone Garson performed with Nine Inch Nails for two nights in Los Angeles and also played with Smashing Pumpkins as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations.

Mike Garson Remembers Glastonbury in 2000 with David Bowie
“I was standing backstage with David Bowie and fellow bandmates preparing to perform at the Glastonbury Festival in 2000. David looked out at the audience and saw what is told to have been a quarter of a million fans. There was something about that day that made me feel, even before beginning to perform, like it would be the most powerful concert to ever happen in Glastonbury history.I felt David’s apprehension. He seemed just a little nervous. He took a breath, looked me straight in the eye and asked me to go out to warm up the audience on my own – much like asked me 23 years earlier at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on the night he knew he would be retiring Ziggy Stardust forever. Once again, I almost had a heart attack. I walked out onto the stage all alone with nothing but the monstrous sea of fans. I was ready to play some jazz.

There was just one problem. From the first note, not a sound was coming out of my keyboard. Within a second, at least fifty crew members flooded on and off the stage scrambling to figure out what the problem might be. The crowd was getting anxious. I was getting nervous and turning red. I was just so happy that David wasn’t on stage because if he had started without the piano we would have been in big trouble. The three minutes I was onstage without any sound felt like three years! It finally dawned on me that the volume on my keyboard was turned off. It wouldn’t surprise me if I was the one who turned it all the way down after our sound check. Oh boy.

I started playing Greensleeves. I have no idea why. I played it at a fairly brisk tempo because I knew the audience was waiting for their real hero to take the stage. The rest of the band started to walk out on stage while I began to wind down and finish my improv. Then David walked out and the crowd went crazy. We played for them for two hours.  After having played with David for more than a thousand shows, I can easily report that our night in Glastonbury was my favorite concert. I remember the thrill of playing Life on Mars with the audience knowing every word to that, not to mention every other song we played.

I’ve thought about that show ever since and have talked about it at length with the musicians I shared the stage with that evening. It makes me very happy to see that show now being released for those who were with us that night to relive the magic and for so many more to be able to share in the joy of the music we made on that special night.

I’m thrilled to be continuing David’s legacy with such an amazing band of fellow Bowie alumni members and a wonderful mix of world-renowned vocalists with A BOWIE CELEBRATION: The David Bowie Alumni Tour in cities across Europe and North America beginning in January 2019. We look forward to continuing the celebration of David’s music with you when I’ll make sure to keep the volume of my keyboard up each night”

Garson along with fellow key alumni musicians of David Bowie’s bands from across the decades have joined forces for a show called ‘A BOWIE CELEBRATION’ with Bowie band alumni including Earl Slick, Gerry Leonard, Mark Plati and Carmine Rojas.

European shows across Ireland, UK, France, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium & Switzerland for this unforgettable and critically acclaimed evening of Bowie’s songs are scheduled for early 2019 and will feature world class vocalists including Rolling Stones singer Bernard Fowler, Living Colour’s Corey Glover and Joe Sumner plus an ever-rotating mix of Bowie hits and deep cut fan favourites.

Keyboardist and band leader Mike Garson, the longest-standing member of any of Bowie’s bands, who performed with David at over 1,000 concerts around the globe says: “This is a dream band with each member at the top of their game. Add to that the world’s best fans singing and dancing along with us and the power of David’s music stays alive with the same intent as when we played with him.”

The band also features legendary guitarist Earl Slick, who worked on landmark Bowie albums such as Diamond Dogs, David Live, Station To Station, Young Americans, Reality and Bowie’s penultimate album The Next Day along with Bowie band leader Gerry Leonard (A Reality Tour) and the Let’s Dance/Serious Moonlight Tour bassist Carmine Rojas. Between them, they have over 40 years experience of recording, writing and playing live with Bowie.

Earl Slick “I’m having a blast with these shows. It’s so great to play with this amazing band of alumni who were there with David going all the way back. When I see the looks on the faces of the audience at our shows I see the value in what we’re doing. Mission accomplished!”

Gerry Leonard: “I am super excited to be continuing to bring David’s music to his loyal fans with A Bowie Celebration. The combination of having his real band playing his music for his dedicated fans makes for a truly special night every time.  It’s such a wonderful way to keep David’s memory and musical legacy alive.”

Carmine Rojas: “It is really inspirational to witness how excited the audience gets with each song we play.  It’s like people are reminded how prolific David’s music was and they can’t stop singing and dancing. Fans can’t believe they are actually hearing the music as it was originally recorded by original musicians of David’s bands. That’s what sets this apart from anything else. It’s truly a spiritual event.  I can’t wait to continue the Celebration!”

Tom Grennan joins line up for Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall

BBC Introducing Artist Of The Year Tom Grennan has confirmed he will join the stellar Teenage Cancer Trust line up at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 27th March.

Singer-songwriter Tom Grennan has had a phenomenal 12 months. From breakout star at the beginning of the year to a nationwide sold out tour in October including a date at O2 Academy Brixton, Tom released his top 5 debut album, Lighting Matches to huge acclaim and performed at festivals all over Europe.  Tom said:

“It’s a real honour for me to play a show on behalf of Teenager Cancer Trust and raise money and awareness for so many courageous young people! To tread the boards of the Royal Albert Hall will be a life ambition ticked off for me, and to do it for Teenage Cancer Trust make it that extra special – thank you to Roger Daltrey and the team for giving me this opportunity”

Tom Grennan joins multi award-winning collective Rudimental, one of the most successful bands in British chart history, Take That, alternative legends, Doves, announcing their return after a decade, pop/rock trio The Script and English folk-rockers Levellers for the celebrated week long concert series.

Every penny Teenage Cancer Trust raises goes towards supporting thousands of young people living with cancer across the UK. The services provided treat people as individuals – the young person first and the cancer diagnosis second.

Legendary frontman of The Who, Roger Daltrey CBE has been the driving force behind Teenage Cancer Trust’s Royal Albert Hall concerts since they began in 2000 and is an honorary patron for the charity. I’ve been proud to be part of Teenage Cancer Trust for almost 20 years.

Roger said: “Many people will not be aware that Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity that receives no government funding and is dependent on raising money from the public to provide vital wards and nursing care which are a lifeline for young people with cancer. I’m incredibly grateful to all of the artists who’ve given up time in their busy schedules to help young people with cancer get the specialist care they deserve. Looking back, we’ve had so many unforgettable moments at the shows over the years and these moments are amplified by the wonderful young people with cancer I have met. I’m consistently overwhelmed by their positivity in the face of a life changing circumstance. They are the reason we strive to make these shows the very best we can and this year will be no different.”

Liz Tait, Director of Fundraising at Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “We’re so excited to announce this incredible line-up. These amazing shows not only bring together some of the world’s biggest names in music, but also raise vital funds to support young people facing the chaos of cancer through our 28 specialist teenage cancer units in NHS hospitals across the UK, led by expert nurses and support staff. For every young person we reach, there’s another we can’t, so every penny raised through the gigs is crucial. As always, we’re incredibly grateful to our honorary patron Roger Daltrey CBE, who is the driving force behind the Royal Albert Hall shows. And it’s great that tickets are on sale just in time for Christmas!”

This year’s shows are generously supported by sponsors Tangle Teezer and American Airlines.

Further incredible support is provided by media partners Absolute Radio and Metro.

Seven Decades 'The Story Of Three Guitars That Changed The World' First night sold out! Matinee shows added!

Seven Decades have added two matinee shows to their upcoming January run at The V&A after their opening night has sold out.

Tickets are available now via the V&A website
www.vam.ac.uk/event/gBQL52xo/seven-decades-jan-2019

Last week Seven Decades unveiled the special guests for their opening night panel at the V&A on 11th January. This evening will be a unique extended performance, and will include an exclusive discussion on the electric guitar’s enduring impact on popular culture in general and music in particular.

The panel on the 11th will feature Bill Curbishley manager of The Who, Brix Smith Start lead guitarist and song-writer in The Fall and lead vocalist and guitarist in her band Brix And The Extricated, Johnny Borrell guitarist and vocalist of Razorlight and Kevin Brennan MP the Shadow Minister for Heritage & Arts and guitarist for parliamentary band MP4. Will Hodgkinson, author of Guitar Man and chief rock and pop critic at The Times newspaper, will host the panel.

Seven Decades also unveiled further details about the show itself, which has been specially adapted for the V&A. The spirit of a live performed documentary remains at the show’s core with a number of important creative developments that will be debuted at these performances.

Now set in a vintage recording studio specially constructed for these shows, the musicians and technicians will already be on stage when the audience arrives.  A screen integral to the set represents a window into a virtual control room from which the story will be delivered by the character of a sound engineer whose appearance subtly changes as the decades progress.

The musicians will rehearse informally before ‘curtain up’ at which stage they will commence their full exploration of seven decades of guitar music history featuring legendary music from James Burton and Jimi Hendrix to the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Rage Against the Machine.

These changes have been introduced to create greater intimacy and excitement for the audience by bringing them closer to these great musicians and wonderful instruments and to better evoke the historical eras that the show represents.

London based actor Alex Walton stars as the narrator taking a sound engineer’s role for these V&A shows. He has worked extensively in TV and theatre.

Jimmy Buffett Announces UK Show for 2019

Jimmy Buffett is best known as the composer of such classic songs as “Margaritaville,” “A Pirate Looks At Forty”, “Come Monday” and “Cheeseburger In Paradise” is to return to the UK for the only the second time in 20 years.

Parrotheads, as Jimmy’s loyal band of festive fans are known, will get their chance to don a grass skirt, extravagant Hawaiian shirts and flamboyant headwear to party with Jimmy Buffett at The London Palladium on September 23rd 2019.

Jimmy released his famous ‘Son of a Son of a Sailor’ LP in 1978.  The title is a reference to his grandfather who was a huge influence on his life. In recognition of the 40th anniversary of the release, the 2018 tour was called Son of a Son of a Sailor and the celebration continues through 2019.

In 1974 “Come Monday,” a single from Living and Dying in 3/4 Time become his first Top 30 hit but Jimmy was totally unaware of the success of the single. “I was in Europe working on a film production when I heard “Come Monday” being played in the London Airport. I figured something was happening, and called home to find out we were on the charts.”

With only two shows in the UK in over 20 years Jimmy Buffett at The Palladium on September 23rd is a show not to be missed.

Legendary Promoter Harvey Goldsmith says: “I’m thrilled to be working with Jimmy again, it’s been a long time since he last played London. I have ordered a new Hawaiian shirt in his honour
