BEVERLEY KNIGHT MARKS 25 YEARS IN MUSIC WITH A CAREER-DEFINING NEW ALBUM

Beverley Knightis celebrating 25 years in the music industry with a special new album BK25: Beverley Knight with The Leo Green Orchestra at The Royal Festival Hall, out on 8 November via Warner Music UK. The album brings to life – with a live orchestra – all of Beverley’s hits including the Top 10 smash ‘Shoulda Woulda Coulda’, ‘Keep This Fire Burning’, ‘Come As You Are’, ‘Made It Back’, ‘Greatest Day’as well as three new studio tracks including the single ‘Now or Never’‘Flavour of The Old School’, Beverley’s first ever hit, is out today on the 25thanniversary of the single going to radio in 1994. WatchBeverley Knight talk about ‘Flavour of The Old School’.

Recorded at the Royal Festival Hall with The Leo Green Orchestra, BK25hears Beverley’s powerhouse vocals take full flight on a musical journey like no other. This album captures the very essence of what the public loves about Beverley – her energy and consistency as a formidable live performer.

As well as her own hits, BK25also includes a nod to Beverley’s best-known theatre performances ‘Memory’(Cats) and ‘I’m Every Woman’(The Bodyguard). Her foray into musical theatre has also earned her several accolades, including an Olivier Award nomination. As a special treat for her fans, the album also features three bonus tracks – new original recordings: ‘Now or Never’, ‘Wild River’ and ‘Never Like This’ (duet with Jocelyn Brown). The radio-ready anthem ‘Now or Never’, co-written with Matty Benbrook (Paolo Nutini, Jack Savoretti) sounds instantly at home with her established hits, as does ‘Wild River’, which Beverley co-wrote with long time collaborator Guy Chambers.

For quarter of a century, Beverley has confidently carved a solid career in music, highlighted by gold and platinum-selling albums, 14 Top 40 hits, sold-out tours, 3 MOBO Awards, and several Brit Award and Mercury Music Prize nominations. Her long-term upward trajectory puts her in a unique position amongst her UK peers in the genre.

When she broke out in the mid-90s with ‘Flavour of The Old School’, Beverley Knight seemed destined to be a real force in Brit-funk. However, by the time she reached the mid-2000s with her platinum-selling career retrospective Voice – The Best of Beverley Knight, it was clear that she had become the UK’s Queen of Soul. Beverley’s strong reputation as a bona fide soul vocalist has earnt her admiration and respect from some of the biggest names in the industry including Prince, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan, Andrea Bocelli, Tom Jones, Ronnie Wood and more.

More than just a great singer, Beverley has also co-written some of her biggest hits. Over the years, her esteemed collaborators have ranged from Guy Chambers and Chris Martin to Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, and Jimmy Hogarth.

BK25is a celebration of a true British soul music icon at the top of her game, with a view of many more great years to come.
