ALL POINTS EAST AWARDED SILVER STATUS FOR ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING’S CHARTER OF BEST PRACTICE

All Points East has been awarded the Silver Status of Attitude is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice, in recognition of the event’s continued commitment to inclusivity and access for deaf and disabled people. The Charter, with over 200 sign-ups, is the UK event industry standard for live music accessibility, recognised by the influential UK Live Music Group in 2017.

Since forming in 2018, All Points East has consistently strived to improve the overall accessibility of the event, ensuring each and every music fan in Victoria Park has the best experience possible. Current initiatives include a dedicated entrance lane, pre-bookable viewing platforms, dedicated access customer service team both on-site and year-round, accommodating for customers with guide dogs, accessible toilets at every toilet block, Hearing Induction Loops, lowered counters, charging points for chairs, online EasyReads and more.

Jenny Hamada, Director of Events at AEG Presents said: “We constantly strive to ensure that All Points East is accessible to all those who wish to attend. Gaining the Silver status is the next step on this journey, and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Attitude is Everything to implement innovative solutions each year.”

The festival is also set to introduce a number of new initiatives for 2020. This includes implementing accessibility software Recite Me onto the All Points East website, allowing customers to customise their website in a way which works for them – such as changing the website’s colour palette dependent on visual impairment).

All Points East is also proud to be a part of Attitude is Everything’s 20th Anniversary celebrations next year. For more information head to www.attitudeiseverything.org.uk.

Suzanne Bull, CEO of Attitude is Everything said:

“All Points East have worked closely with Attitude is Everything since the festival’s inception and we are delighted to see the festival achieve the silver award on our Charter of Best Practice. The festival has a superb customer service team supporting disabled customers onsite, has engaged with customer feedback and Disability Equality Training and provides facilities such as a High Dependency Unit and multiple viewing platforms and lowered bars around the site. We are keen to continue to support All Points East as it continues to build its reputation and strive for our Charter of Best Practice gold award.”

Elsewhere, the festival is continuing its commitment towards sustainability (committing to both 100% HVO Biofuel and working towards eliminating single-use plastic from all serveware), and work within the local community – an aspect that sits at the core of All Points East.

This includes working with the Tower Project to give volunteer opportunities to young people with learning disabilities and autism to providing education and performance opportunities to the students of nearby ELAM arts and music school. Local businesses are prioritised – with initiatives including granting pouring rights to local brewers (2019 featured Redchurch, Five Points and Truman’s with 2020 to be announced) – and are given opportunities to provide food, drink, merchandise and more to ensure the local community benefits as much as possible.

In partnership with Tower Hamlets council, the festival also hosts a hugely popular 4-day community focused midweek event each year. Kicking off on the second Bank Holiday Monday, In The Neighbourhood hosts a vibrant programme of activities and entertainment, in collaboration with the local community, businesses, organisations and suppliers. Last year had something for everyone – eco-friendly creative workshops, free yoga sessions, street food, open air movie nights, themed drag shows, film panels, an exploration of the history of grime music and East London with Rich Mix’s Generation Grime: Back2Bow. Everything is free and 2020’s programme will be announced soon….

Finally, announced today is the exciting news that Tame Impala have been revealed as the first All Points East headliner for 2020. The group are one of the most requested acts for the festival, and will be armed with new material from their forthcoming LP The Slow Rush – their first album in five years. They’ll be joined alongside a star-studded array of artists in Caribou, Glass Animals, Whitney, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Kelly Lee Owens, Holy F, with more to be announced.
