New support acts announced for British Summertime Hyde Park
Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park adds three major acts to its line up for one of the biggest shows of 2017. On Friday June 30th, Phil Collins will be taking to the stage in Hyde Park as part of his Not Dead Yet: Live tour – one of his first onstage appearances in nearly a decade.
Joining Collins on this momentous day in Hyde Park is one of the most trailblazing and influential bands of our time, Blondie. With pioneering front woman/songwriter Debbie Harry, guitarist/conceptual mastermind Chris Stein and powerhouse drummer Clem Burke, along with newer band mates Leigh Foxx, guitarist Tommy Kessler and keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen, the band are sounding stronger than ever.
During a career spanning four decades, Blondie have delivered a lifetime of smash hits including Heart of Glass, Dreaming, Tide Is High, Maria, Sunday Girl, Hanging on the Telephone, Rapture, One Way or Another, Call Me… the list goes on. Since their New York beginnings in the 70s, Blondie have dominated the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, selling over 40 million records in the process. Their chart-topping success, fearless spirit and rare longevity led to an induction into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2006
With their much-anticipated new album due this year, Blondie are set to debut brand new songs for their 2017 tour dates, and show festival-goers why they belong at the top.
Supporting his former band mate is fellow Genesis star and longtime friend Mike Rutherford, with his supergroup Mike + The Mechanics. Since their formation in 1984, the band has sold over 10 million records worldwide. Their major hits include; Silent Running, All I Need Is A Miracle, Word Of Mouth, Another Cup of Coffee and the unforgettable Over My Shoulder – to name a few….
Starsailor burst onto the scene in 2001 with their smash hit single Fever, earning them a Brit Award for ‘Best New Band’ the same year. The band has released four studio albums since; scoring ten Top 40 hit singles in the UK. Following a five-year hiatus in 2009, Starsailor (James Walsh, James Stelfox, Ben Byrne and Barry Westhead), returned for a triumphant world tour. This year, the Indie-rock quartet will have crowds singing along to the hits including Good Souls and Silence Is Easy, all in the wonderful summer setting of Hyde Park.
Also headlining at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2017 is Green Day (1st July), Justin Bieber (2nd July), Kings of Leon (6th July), The Killers (8th July) and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (9th July).
