MORE NEW ACTS ANNOUNCED FOR THE MOBO AWARDS 2016
One of the UK’s brightest music stars LADY LESHURR is set for a powerhouse performance at the 21st anniversary celebrations of the UK hottest night in music – the MOBO Awards in Glasgow. The Birmingham MC who counts US comic Dave Chappelle and Estelle as fans is universally known for her viral ‘Queen’s Speech’ freestyle series and this year she is up for the prestigious MOBO Award for Best Female Act.
Also joining the larger-than-life line up with CRAIG DAVID, LAURA MVULA, TINIE TEMPAH, CHASE & STATUS, CLEAN BANDIT and ANNE-MARIE is 2015 recipient of the first MOBO Paving The Way award, WILEY. He returns to the MOBO stage for the first time in four years with his dance outfit ESKIMO DANCE. This unforgettable performance promises to go down as a moment in history with a special feature from GHETTS and others soon to be revealed.
Jamaican dancehall king POPCAAN will also be making his MOBO stage debut this year, in one of the rare few UK performances thus far in his impressive career. The 2015 MOBO Award winner for Best Reggae Act – who counts Drake as a fan – is guaranteed to raise the roof in Glasgow. Popcaan is once again up for Best Reggae Act this year, facing fierce competition from Alkaline, Kranium, Protoje and Spice.
After he was discovered by his idol Vybz Kartel, he quickly proved himself as one of the island’s most talented artists with a string of international hits from ‘Only Man She Want’ to ‘Ravin’. Popcaan has to date amassed over 40 million views on VEVO and is the first dancehall artist since Sean Paul to have his track playlisted on the BBC. He has also featured on two prominent UK Top 40 hits to date: AlunaGeorge’s ‘I’m In Control’ and Melissa Steel’s ‘Kisses For Breakfast’.
