Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall Headliners announced for 2019

Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall announce their headline acts for 2019; multi award-winning collective Rudimental, one of the most successful bands in British chart history, Take That, alternative legends, Doves, announcing their return after a decade, pop/rock trio The Script and English folk-rockers Levellers.

Money raised by these shows supports Teenage Cancer Trust, the only charity dedicated to making sure young people diagnosed with cancer get the expert treatment and personalised support they need.

Rudimental kick things off at the Royal Albert Hall with their emphatic. hi-energy live show on Monday 25th March. Performing tracks from their forthcoming new album, Toast To Our Differences, which releases on January 25th and features an all-star cast of guest vocalists including Rita Ora, Stefflon Don, Jess Glynne and more, they kick off the week in celebratory style.

First making waves in 2012 with anthemic #1 single ‘Feel The Love’ ft. John Newman, Rudimental’s breakthrough debut album ‘Home’ was subsequently nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2013 and took home Best Album at The MOBOs. ‘Waiting All Night’ ft. Ella Eyre, another definitive Rudimental track, also topped the UK Singles Chart and took home a BRIT Award for Best British Single in 2014, helping the band cement their reputation as the UK’s leading and most inventive dance act.

Second studio album ‘We The Generation’ also entered the UK Albums Chart at #1 in 2015, boasting two Ed Sheeran collaborations (‘Bloodstream’, ‘Lay It All On Me’) and eye-catching features from the likes of Anne Marie, MNEK and Dizzee Rascal, as well as rising star Mahalia.

Rudimental kicked off 2018 with double-Platinum mega-hit, These Days ft. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen, claiming their third UK #1 and amassing over 855 million global streams in their process, ranking as the UK’s biggest-selling song of the year. Further album singles ‘Let Me Live’ (produced with Major Lazer) ft. Anne Marie & Mr Eazi and heart-stirring ballad ‘Walk Alone’ ft. Tom Walker have continued to feed into the buzz around the band too, as they prepare to release their third studio album, ‘Toast To Our Differences’, in January.

Supporting Rudimental will be grime star Ghetts. His critically acclaimed album, Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament which illustrates themes from feminism, culture, philosophy, to the rise of social media, was released in September this year. A legend of grime, Ghetts also recently performed on Later With Jools Holland.

Renowned for their incredible live shows, Take That, will make their debut performance at Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in 2019.   The band are also celebrating their 30th anniversary and have just released their new Greatest Hits album, Odyssey, which debuted at number 1 in the UK charts last week, becoming the fastest selling album of the year.

One of the UK’s most beloved bands, Take That have had phenomenal success with 28 top 40 singles and 17 top 5 singles in the UK, 12 of which have reached number one, as well as having 7 number one albums. Internationally, the band have had 56 number one singles and 37 number one albums. Additionally they have received eight Brit Awards – winning awards for Best British Group and Best British Live Act.

Take That have set new records for the fastest-selling tour of all time in the UK with Progress Live, beating their previous record for Circus Live Tour in 2009, proving they’re still the number 1 live draw in the UK.

Doves, the legendary three-piece band from Manchester, announce their return in 2019, taking to the stage for the very first time in nine years. Celebrated for Mercury-nominated albums, Lost Souls and The Last Broadcast alongside hit singles There Goes The Fear, Pounding and Black And White Town, Doves sound tracked the lives of a generation of fans left waiting patiently for their reappearance.  The wait is over as the band, composed of twin brothers Jez Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andy Williams (drums, vocals), and Jimi Goodwin (bass, vocals, guitar), make a re-energised return to the Royal Albert Hall next March.

They last played together at the Manchester Warehouse Project in October 2010.
After supporting each of their four, top-ten albums on the road and being affixed to festival main stages for close to a decade, Doves declared a ‘time out’ to pursue other experiments in sound – yet remained connected by their friendship of over thirty years.

After calling time on their hiatus, Doves embraced the invitation of Roger Daltrey CBE to take the stage for Teenage Cancer Trust, having previously supported the charity with a full, 17-song headline set in 2003.

Irish trio The Script are five albums and ten years into a 30 million record-selling career. Songs such as For The First Time, Hall Of Fame, Breakeven and Superheroes have been smashes on a global scale. The band boast four number 1 albums in the UK and four platinum selling singles in the US and combined YouTube views of one billion. The band are the rarest of things: streaming-era superstars as well as self-produced singer-songwriters. Album artists in the traditional sense, and a huge all-ages, all-sexes, arena-filling live phenomenon.

The Script said: “We are honoured to be asked to support the Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall. The fantastic work that they been done over the years continues to pay dividends to provide specialist care to young people with cancer across the UK.”

Levellers – English folk punk band and live favourites will be playing a full electric set at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 31st March as part of their own curated show “A Beautiful Night Out”, a one-day version of their award-winning grass roots festival Beautiful Days.

Often political, occasionally angry but always big-hearted, Levellers have had 11 Top 40 albums, including a number one with 1995’s Zeitgeist, and 14 Top 40 singles. Their landmark 1991 album, Levelling The Land, spent 38 weeks in the Top 100 album charts over a three year period. The band released We The Collective produced by John Leckie (Radiohead, The Stone Roses) in Spring 2018 which entered the Top 20 on release – the band’s highest chart position for over 20 years. This very special show at the Royal Albert Hall follows the band’s 30th anniversary celebrations this year.

Legendary frontman of The Who, Roger Daltrey CBE has been the driving force behind Teenage Cancer Trust’s Royal Albert Hall concerts since they began in 2000 and is an honorary patron for the charity. I’ve been proud to be part of Teenage Cancer Trust for almost 20 years.

Roger said: “Many people will not be aware that Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity that receives no government funding and is dependent on raising money from the public to provide vital wards and nursing care which are a lifeline for young people with cancer. I’m incredibly grateful to all of the artists who’ve given up time in their busy schedules to help young people with cancer get the specialist care they deserve. Looking back, we’ve had so many unforgettable moments at the shows over the years and these moments are amplified by the wonderful young people with cancer I have met. I’m consistently overwhelmed by their positivity in the face of a life changing circumstance. They are the reason we strive to make these shows the very best we can and this year will be no different.”

Every penny Teenage Cancer Trust raises goes towards putting a spotlight on the thousands of young people living with cancer across the UK. The services provided treat people as individuals – the young person first and the cancer diagnosis second.

2019’s impressive line-up adds to an extraordinary legacy that has seen unique, once in a lifetime performances like Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn performing together for the first time ever in 2013, Sir Paul McCartney in 2012, plus everyone from Muse to The Cure, Tinie Tempah, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, Kasabian, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Olly Murs, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Sir Tom Jones and many more. And, of course, some of the greatest concerts of the past 20 years from The Who.

Liz Tait, Director of Fundraising at Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “We’re so excited to announce this incredible line-up. These amazing shows not only bring together some of the world’s biggest names in music, but also raise vital funds to support young people facing the chaos of cancer through our 28 specialist teenage cancer units in NHS hospitals across the UK, led by expert nurses and support staff. For every young person we reach, there’s another we can’t, so every penny raised through the gigs is crucial. As always, we’re incredibly grateful to our honorary patron Roger Daltrey CBE, who is the driving force behind the Royal Albert Hall shows. And it’s great that tickets are on sale just in time for Christmas!”

This year’s shows are generously supported by sponsors Tangle Teezer and American Airlines.

Further incredible support is provided by media partners Absolute Radio and Metro.

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park announces its third headline show for 2019

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park announces its third headline show for 2019 today, with the iconic Florence + the Machine making a triumphant homecoming on Saturday July 13th.

It’s been a remarkable year for Florence, whose fourth album ‘High As Hope’ already has the feel of a career-defining moment. Featuring the anthemic singles ‘Hunger’, ‘Sky Full Of Song’, ‘Big God’ and Patricia’, Florence started writing the record (which is also the first she has officially co-produced) in solitude in South London: routinely cycling to her studio in Peckham everyday to, as she puts it, “bang on the wall with sticks”. She took the songs to Los Angeles with her friend and co-producer Emile Haynie, opening them up along the way for collaboration with the likes of Kamasi Washington, Sampha, Tobias Jesso Jr, Kelsey Lu and Jamie xx. Florence mixed the record in New York, where the daily, reassuring view of that iconic skyline – often in stark contrast to the chaos of the wider world – gave the album its upbeat title.

What’s emerged – alongside the stunning new live show she will showcase at Hyde Park – is an artist who appears more certain of herself than ever. Florence’s recent tour in support of ‘High As Hope’ featured two sold-out dates at London’s O2 Arena and was greeted with across-the-board five-star reviews. With the album also landing Welch the third Mercury Prize nomination of her career, Florence + the Machine’s live return to London next summer is truly not to be missed.

Sharing the stage are an American indie institution from Ohio, festival favourites and one of the most highly rated live acts around – The National. Latest album Sleep Well Beast lived up to the intense anticipation generated by an acclaimed catalogue and broke new ground with their first UK Number 1 album. They celebrated last year with their largest ever UK headline show at All Points East festival and by headlining 4 nights at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo. Their big return to BST Hyde Park comes after thrilling critics and fans in support of Neil Young’s show in 2014.

Lykke Li is instantly recognisable with her sensuous, barely there vocals, backed up by an electro dance sound. The Swedish singer gained momentum in the 2000s with a handful of retro-chic singles including Little Bit. Her debut album, 2008’s ‘Youth Novels’ proved an international success and there’s been no stopping her since. Released earlier this year, Lykke Li’s fourth album ‘so sad so sexy’ shifts away from the dream-poppy breakup ballads of 2014’s ‘I Never Learn’ toward airy, melancholic takes on trap and R&B.

Khruangbin (Thai for airplane, or literally “engine fly”) are a jet-setting trio from Texas. Their dreamy sound comes from a blend of global music influences with soul, dub and psychedelia. They released their debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ in 2015, followed by ‘Con Todo El Mundo’ in 2018 and have since worked with the likes of Maribou State.

Also added to this magnificent bill is Nadine Shah, whose third album, ‘Holiday Destination’ was this year nominated for a Mercury Prize, reward for a record that summed up the world of 2018, dealing in song with the refugee crisis, Trump, Brexit and more set to her most commercial sound to date.  Finding her voice as a Muslim woman in music, Shah’s post punk insights make her one of the most unique and vital British artists performing today.

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2019 is back for another year of unique shows and unforgettable music moments, for the 7th year.

Last year continued the tradition of must-see experiences that has seen The Rolling Stones return to Hyde Park, Carole King play her classic album ‘Tapestry’ in full for the first time ever, comebacks for The Strokes and The Libertines, Stevie Wonder play Songs in The Key Of Life and many more.

2018 saw amazing days and nights with Roger Waters, Bruno Mars, Michael Buble, The Cure, Eric Clapton and Paul Simon’s last ever UK concert.

Already announced for the second weekend of BST Hyde Park 2019, Bob Dylan and Neil Young on 12th July and Robbie Williams on 14th July.

James King, Executive Vice President Live Music, AEG Presents comments:

“Over the past ten years Florence Welch has rightfully cemented herself as one of the UK’s finest performers. Her unforgettable live shows go from strength to strength with every passing tour. It’s a delight to welcome her back onto the Great Oak Stage at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time 2019 for what’s certain to be a phenomenal homecoming show. Joining Florence will be The National, another amazing band at the top of their game, as I’m sure anyone who saw them headline this years’ All Points East will agree. These two incredible artists will be joined by one of the strongest bills we have assembled for BST Hyde Park. It will be a magical day.”

Daniel Mathieson, Head of Experiential Marketing and Partnerships for Barclaycard, says:

“Barclaycard presents British Summer Time 2019 is shaping up to be a fantastic line-up, and we’re excited to welcome back Florence + the Machine and The National. A chance to see these two great acts headline together will be an unforgettable experience! Barclaycard customers can get early access to tickets with an exclusive 48-hour presale from 9am on Monday 19th November, plus customers can get 10 per cent back at the checkout with each and every presale ticket bought through Barclaycard Entertainment.”

Alun Mainwaring, Head of Events and Filming at The Royal Parks, said:

We are thrilled to welcome back one of the world’s greatest vocalists and her band, Florence and the Machine. Their outstanding performance in Hyde Park to a sell-out audience in 2016 was a BST highlight and we can’t wait to see them perform once again on the Great Oak Stage.  Florence joins a distinguished list of artists already confirmed including Bob Dylan and Neil Young and Robbie Williams, meaning next summer’s concerts will be headlined by some of the biggest and best musicians from across the globe. Music events are vital to the future of the parks bringing in funds which go into managing and maintaining these beautiful and historic green urban spaces.”

ALFIE BOE Scores his fifth top 10 solo UK album

Alfie Boe claims his fifth top 10 album as a solo artist in the UK chart, in at number 10 this week, with the release of his vibrant and instantly classic album As Time Goes By via Decca Records.

As Time Goes By celebrates the golden era of music from the 30s and 40s, a time that is often overlooked. Since the charts inception in 1956, surprisingly many of the best-known tunes featured on the album had never made it to into the top 10. Classics such as ‘Moonlight Serenade’ hadn’t charted since 1976 and ‘Sing Sing Sing’ was last in at 1971. Now Alfie brings these beautiful songs to the charts of the 21st century.

Alfie has created a lane of his own in a chart week that not only sees pop artists Take That, Little Mix and Rita Ora in the top 10 but is also the highest volume week of the year! He has previously has achieved four top 10 albums as a solo artist; Bring Him Home (2009), Alfie (2011), Storyteller (2012) and Trust (2013).

Since then he’s also had two recent UK #1 albums under his belt for albums Together (2016) and Together Again (2017), made with his great friend Michael Ball.

Alfie says, “I’m delighted to have my record reach the top 10. It’s been a project of love, these are the songs I grew up listening to so it’s been an honour to record them for my own album. I’m very excited to start performing them live next year!”

Next year he’ll be taking the new record on a huge UK tour, kicking off in Cardiff on 18th March, followed by a series of shows in some of the UK’s most stunning venues including the Liverpool Philharmonic, Brighton Dome and before coming to a close at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 17th April. TWO OF THE GREATEST MUSICIANS OF ALL TIME HEAD FOR ONE HISTORIC NIGHT IN HYDE PARK

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park announces its first headliners for 2019 – two of the greatest musicians of all time on one HISTORIC night. Bob Dylan and Neil Young are joint headliners.

Bob Dylan’s impact on popular music and culture is immeasurable. The recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, he is responsible for some of the most influential albums of all time, such as ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’, ‘Highway 61 Revisited’and ‘Blonde on Blonde’He continues to be vibrant and on the cutting edge, Bob Dylan has received 10 GRAMMY Awards (including wins for Love And TheftModern Times and the Album of the Year GRAMMY for Time Out of Mind), as well as the Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Things Have Changed’ in 2002.

Neil Young remains the only artist of the rock era to compare to Dylan. Classic albums like ‘Harvest’, ‘After The Goldrush’ and ‘On The Beach’ are some the best in the whole genre. But Young remains hugely relevant and prolific, releasing 2 albums within months of each other in 2017/2018, as well as a stream of archive albums from classic live shows over the years, underlining his incredible live legacy.  This time, he brings Promise of the Real, with whom he recorded 2017’s album ‘The Visitor’, their second studio album together and this year released the soundtrack album ‘Paradox’.  The band features Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah.  They also star in Bradley Cooper and Lady Ga Ga acclaimed new movie ‘A Star Is Born’, with Lukas as musical consultant.

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park will be a unique occasion, perhaps never to be repeated. Considered the greatest songwriters of their generation, their contribution to the history of rock music puts them above even their most legendary peers.

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2019 is back for another year of unique shows and unforgettable music moments, for the 7th year.

Bang Bang Romeo announce debut album ' A Heartbreaker's Guide To The Galaxy'

The UK’s hottest rising trio Bang Bang Romeo have today announced their debut album ‘A Heartbreaker’s Guide To The Galaxy‘ with celebratory Christmas shows in their hometown of Doncaster.

The album is now available to pre-order for a release date of 14th June 2019, on CD, marble coloured vinyl and with ticket and merch bundle combinations. Order here:
https://bangbangromeo.tmstor.es/

Melding sound from powerful soulful blues, to riffing heavy rock, to delicate vulnerable pop ballads and stomping rock and roll Bang Bang Romeo leave no territory untouched with their invasion onto the music scene.

Frontwoman Anastasia ‘Stars’ Walker commented:
“We would like to invite you to the first stop in our universe.
To worlds of runaways and natural born astronauts. To favourite bad decisions under blood red skies, star crossed species and hurricanes gunning for war. The adventure begins…”

Stars – Bang Bang Romeo

Bang Bang Romeo are the first UK signing to Eleven Seven Label Group and will be released on Allen Kovac’s Five Seven imprint.

Recorded in Birmingham, New York and Los Angeles, the band have worked with a roster of industry heavyweights on the album, including producers and co-writers Nick Furlong (Avicii, All Time Low), American Authors guitarist James Shelley and his production partner Michel Heyaca (Tinashe, Nick Jonas), New York’s Heavy (Goo Goo Dolls), and the UK’s Red Line Music team. Meanwhile, the record has been mixed by Grammy winner Mark Needham (The Killers, The 1975), and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Arctic Monkeys, Beastie Boys, The Clash).

Artwork was designed by drummer Rich Gartland who bought the band’s concept to life with a stunning celestial scene which nods to each song on the record, comments Rich:
“ Since day one we’ve drawn, designed, created all of our single artworks, and with our debut we really wanted to continue that and show our artistic desires not just in music, but in design too. Ever wondered what a song would look like if it was a place? There’s little “Easter Eggs” hidden in there, with nods to things that link to us, and things in our lives that influenced the writing of the songs.” Rich Gartland – Bang Bang Romeo

Earlier this year the band signed to the Eleven Seven Label Group (home to the likes of Papa Roach, Nelly Furtado, and Nikki Sixx’s Sixx:A.M.), played festivals up and down the country with a highlight main stage performance at Isle Of Wight Festival‘s huge 50th birthday celebrations and bagged themselves a stadium tour supporting pop icon P!nk for summer 2019.
Their Isle of Wight performance was broadcast by SKY ARTS and included in the BBC ONE Documentary ‘50 Years of The Isle of Wight Festival’.

They will be ending this year with two London dates and a pair of celebratory hometown shows.

Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited Acquire Music Catalogue

The Board of Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited and its Investment Adviser, The Family (Music) Limited, are pleased to announce that the Company has acquired a music catalogue from Jason Boyd, a US-based songwriter and producer better known by his professional name Poo Bear. Poo Bear has collaborated, and had Top 10 hits, with some of the biggest artists over the last 20 years, including Usher, David Guetta, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, Fifth Harmony, Jennifer Lopez and Skrillex, but is best known as one of Justin Bieber’s closest collaborators.

Poo Bear co-wrote 9 out of 13 songs on Bieber’s hugely successful album Purpose, which has sold over 14 million copies worldwide and is one of the biggest selling albums in the UK at over 5 times platinum (over 1.5 million copies sold). The catalogue includes “What Do You Mean?”, which has sold over 14 million copies worldwide and has been Number 1 in more than 25 countries, “Where Are You Now?”, which has sold over 9 million copies, and most significantly the English language version of Despacito, known as “Despacito (Justin Bieber Remix)” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, which was Number 1 in over 50 countries and was the 2018 Grammy Awards Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year as well as the Billboard Music Awards Song Of The Year, and is tied for the longest running Billboard Hot 100 #1 of all time.

The Company will acquire a 100% interest in the catalogue, which comprises 214 songs in total, including all of the aforementioned titles.

Merck Mercuriadis, Founder of The Family (Music) Limited and Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited, said:

“It’s fortuitous to be able to acquire a song catalogue of this importance so early in its life. Poo Bear is an extraordinary young man whose songs have not only been Number 1 and won Grammy Awards but also have a long life in front of them. In a streaming world that is growing every day his songs are at the forefront, Despacito on its own was Number 1 in more than 50 countries and is one of those truly rare songs that has united the globe. I’m delighted to welcome him to the Hipgnosis Songs Family.”

Poo Bear said:

“I’m extremely honoured and blessed to join forces with Merck, Nile, The Dream and Hipgnosis. This is something I’ve been working towards for 22 years and I finally feel confident and comfortable that I’m doing this deal with the best company in the business. It’s beyond the money, it’s the assurance that my catalogue will be respected and taken to even greater heights of success.”

DAVID BOWIE ‘LET’S DANCE’ NILE RODGERS' STRING VERSION AND DEMO AVAILABLE NOW

Thirty-six years after he originally recorded the track LET’S DANCE Nile Rodgers has produced a very special orchestrated version which is featured on the newly released album 80’s SYMPHONIC.
Speaking about this new version Nile commented “My work with David Bowie and specifically “Let’s Dance” is sacrosanct to me so when I was asked to add orchestration to the original recording I approached it with extreme trepidation. In fact my only concern was to protect David’s artistic vision and integrity. In the end I’m very grateful that we did this, as I believe anyone who loves the original will be excited by it. I’m certain David would approve from above”.

Also featured on the digital single is an alternate version of the original demo which was recorded on the 19th December, 1982 at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland. This version features a spoken intro from Bowie joking that if Nile or the band make any mistakes he’ll fine them just like James Brown would do to his band.

BON IVER TO HEADLINE THE FINAL DAY OF ALL POINTS EAST 2019

All Points East returns for a stellar second year to Tower Hamlet’s Victoria Park, following a sold-out 2018 debut that established a new and essential music event in central London.

And after announcing The Chemical Brothers as the first headliner slot for Friday May 24th 2019, the festival makes its second big announcement for next year with more to follow.

2018’s inaugural year saw headline shows from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The National, LCD Soundsystem, Björk, The xx and Catfish and the Bottlemen with an astronomical supporting line up across two weekends of award winning music.

The latest headliner is the iconic Bon Iver, who will close out the second edition of All Points East on Sunday 2nd June – a performance that will be the band’s biggest ever headline show to date. Tickets will go on general sale this Friday at 9am.

Since the the cabin-in-the-woods isolation of 2007’s debut LP, For Emma, Forever Ago, Bon Iver have established themselves as one of the most ambitious, creative and genre-defying bands around – with two Grammy Awards and several BRIT nominations to their name.

Each release has seen the group, spearheaded by Justin Vernon, reinvent their sound and style, most recently on 2016’s 22, A Million. The album received critical acclaim; frequently appearing on media’s ‘Best Of The Year’ lists, and proved for an equally riveting live performance – best highlighted via their epic eight-night residency at London’s Eventim Hammersmith Apollo.

Accompanying Bon Iver on the bill is Mac DeMarco, bringing his trademark ‘jizz-jazz’ and notorious stage antics to Victoria Park. Since his debut LP, Rock and Roll Night Club, the affable Canadian has seen a meteoric rise, releasing three further albums (2012’s 2, 2014’s Salad Days and 2017’s This Old Dog). APE can’t wait to welcome his sun-scorched, laid-back breeziness that conjures up the kind of atmosphere that can only be found in the never-ending days of summer

It’s easy to forget, given everything that’s followed, that it was a self-uploaded cover version of a Fleet Foxes song that set Sweden’s First Aid Kit on their way. Quickly eclipsing that YouTube fame, however, the sisterly duo have gone on to record and release four beautifully rich and elegant records in the decade since that initial emergence. A pair of voices as pure as the Nordic air which shaped them.

Since the release of his 2010 LP Queen Of Denmark, American singer-songwriter John Grant has rapidly built up a cult following. As well as previous chart success (Grey Tickles, Black Pressure went Top Five in the UK), he’s been nominated for the Best International Male Solo Artist at the 2014 BRITS alongside Eminem and Justin Timberlake and even sung live with Kylie Minogue. Riding a wave of praise from his latest album, the infectious ‘Love Is Magic’ released last month, expect a captivating, poetic and synth-heavy set from the musician.

Swedish singer Kristian Matsson AKA Tallest Man On Earth has been regularly compared to Bob Dylan, and it’s easy to hear why – with his passionate, husky vocals bearing a striking resemblance to the legend. But this substantial comparison has not inhibited Kristian, and his new tracks are some of his most compelling to date.

Julien Baker first gained attention through her 2015 LP, Sprained Ankle, an album praised for its tender, candid and captivating songwriting that continues to enchant people around the world. Her performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert demonstrated her wonderful live credentials too.

Another bright-young prospect on the bill is Matador signee Snail Mail, who Pitchfork described as “emotionally wise, musically clear, and encompasses the once and future sound of indie rock.” Her debut album Lush has cemented her as one of 2018’s breakout stars, with a near sell out UK tour highlighting the hype and excitement for the singer this side of the pond.

Congolese collective, KOKOKO! fuse their love of electronic music with African and Arabic sounds, utilising self-designed string instruments and other percussive inventions made from recycled scrap material to produce their high-energy style.

East London’s beautiful Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets also hosted a hugely popular 4-day community focused midweek event last year. Kicking off on the second Bank Holiday Monday, In The Neighbourhood is set to return across the half term week for 2019. Featuring free access to the All Points East site, In The Neighbourhood will host a vibrant programme of activities and entertainment, in collaboration with the local community, businesses, organisations and suppliers. From free Outdoor Cinema, Live Music & Entertainment, Street Food to Pop Up Bars, Theatre, Arts, Sports & Wellbeing, Children’s Activities and much more.

A truly unique festival environment, an excellence in production, facilities, hospitality and customer service unlike anything seen before in Victoria Park will underpin the entirety of the 10 day event. From the team behind events such as Barclaycard presents British Summer Time, Hyde Park, and the world’s number one venue The O2, the highest standards will be stamped across every aspect of the event.

Chemical Brothers First Headliner Announced For All Points East 2019

All Points East returns for a stellar second year to Tower Hamlet’s Victoria Park, following a sold-out 2018 debut that established a new and essential music event in central London.

Tickets will go on general sale this Friday at 9am.

2018’s inaugural year saw headline shows from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The National, LCD Soundsystem, Bjork, The xx and Catfish and the Bottlemen with an astronomical supporting line up across two weekends of award winning music.

This year will be kick started by The Chemical Brothers, one of the UK and the world’s biggest dance acts.  Following 2015’s number one album Born in the Echoes (a record sixth consecutive No.1 album for the band) and their recent sold-out weekend of acclaimed shows at Alexandra Palace, they have just released new single ‘FREE YOURSELF’. Already a live favourite, the duo’s first piece of new, original music for two years was also recently named Radio 1’s ‘Hottest Record’ by Annie Mac.

The Chemical Brothers live shows have always been legendary and with huge hit singles ‘GO’, ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’, ‘Block Rockin’ Beats’ and expectation for even more new music soon, this is one not to be missed.

With their first festival announcement for 2019, Hot Chip were last seen celebrating the release of their acclaimed sixth studio album Why Make Sense in 2015, establishing the five piece at their creative peak, while taking their place as one of the UK’s best and most loved live acts. Known for their jubilant shows that sees a roll call of surprise guests join them on stage — including David Byrne, Caribou and Sinkane — their performance at next year’s All Points East is set to be a memorable one.

Joining the Chemical Brothers is Primal Scream a band that has demonstrated a savvy for keeping themselves current throughout their 30-year career, unlike many of their peers born out of that era. Their latest album, the mighty synth-pop laden Chaosmosis featured the likes of Sky Ferreira and Haim, while their live performances show no signs of slowing down either. Frontman Bobby Gillespie continues to wield a striking presence, leading his iconic band through their extensive back catalogue from the Mercury Prize winning Screamadelica and Vanishing Point to XTRMNTR and the David Holmes produced More Light.

Legendary space rockers Spiritualized returned this year with a new album, And Nothing Hurt, after a six year hiatus, shrouded in their usual air of mystery. The audacious and uncompromising band are revered for their transcendent live shows, with the ever enigmatic leader Jason Pierce’s performances at once poignant and defiant.

Swedish electronic adventurers Little Dragon have not only featured on some of the last decade’s best records from Gorillaz, Big Boi, De La Soul and SBTRKT, but are also highly recognised for their own work with 2014’s Nabuma Rubberband receiving a Grammy nomination.

All Points East is also thrilled to welcome esteemed hip hop ‘auteur’ Danny Brown to Friday’s line up, who counts Kendrick Lamar and Earl Sweatshirt among his many collaborators and both appeared on his wildly acclaimed 2016 album Atrocity Exhibition. His cinematic approach to music makes for an intoxicating and atmospheric live show.

Tipped by Kendrick Lamar and Jay Z no less, the North London MC Little Simz self released her debut album in 2015. Regularly joined on stage by Kano and Stormzy, her All Points East set will be a hometown celebration.

And UK based collective described as “70s Nigerian highlife crossed with LCD Soundsystem”, Ibibio Sound Machine join Friday’s line up with a bang, bringing their diverse blend of electronic Afro-funk to Victoria Park.

Executive Vice President, Live Music at AEG Presents, Jim King comments:

“We are thrilled to be returning to Victoria Park for a second year with an artist bill as exciting as our first year.  We’re expanding our programme of free midweek entertainment and again working alongside some of the best local suppliers to produce an incredible ten days of entertainment with something for everyone.”

GALANTIS DROPS CONTEMPLATIVE, POST-SUMMER BANGER: ‘EMOJI’

Chart-smashing Swedish electronic music duo Galantis are continuing their mission to spread happiness around the world with the arrival of their new single: ‘Emoji’ (listen here). The contemplative, post-summer banger strips back Galantis’ mammoth festival-ready productions for something more intimate. Whispery vocals tip toe over soft-hued synthesised guitars and a nodding house beat that go with a fun official music video that is sure to change the way you look at emojis (watch here).

The internationally-acclaimed duo has clocked up over 3 billion streams and 42 platinum records in 18 countries. ‘Emoji’ is latest in a string of singles by Galantis this year, following ‘Satisfied’ (featuring MAX), ‘Mama Look At Me Now’ and ‘Spaceship’ featuring Uffie, which have attracted widespread praise and radio support worldwide. Metro UK praised the diversity of ‘Satisfied’ and ‘Mama Look At Me Now’ and described them as “summer anthems in their own right”. ‘Spaceship’ was hailed by CLASH as “an impactful, exciting return” and by MTV UK as “a relentless dance anthem that is bursting with euphoria”.

Galantis is currently working on a follow up to their 2017 album “The Aviary” (stream), which scaled the Top 10 in 23 countries and received widespread praise. Christian Karlsson (also of Bloodshy & Avant and Miike Snow) and Linus Eklöw (Style of Eye) are known for their energetic live performances. They show no signs of slowing down after another epic summer of shows around the world, which include Creamfields and SW4 in August, with more live dates added in North America. The Grammy-nominated duo is widely recognised as one of the most in-demand dance music acts on the planet, with Billboard ranking them at #25 on their Dance 100 Artists of 2018 list. Ever since their live debut at Coachella in 2014, Galantis have played some of the biggest music events in the world including Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, Creamfields, V Festival, SW4 and BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend. BON JOVI announce First UK tour in 6 years

After thousands of sold out shows, it’s clear – Bon Jovi = One Wild Night.

One of the planet’s biggest rock bands, Bon Jovi announce their return to the UK, continuing a triumphant world tour that has visited the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Chile and will hit Japan and Australia later in 2018.  A huge year of 80 shows and counting has also seen them inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Their This House Is Not For Sale European Tour is set to be another blockbuster.

Bon Jovi will finish what they started by returning to Wembley Stadium in London, 19 years after they were the last band to play the old Wembley and 13 years since they almost became the first to play the new stadium – until overrunning building works put a stop to that.  ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home?’ as the Bon Jovi hit goes…….

Elsewhere in the UK, They will become among the first bands to play Liverpool’s legendary Anfield Stadium since 2008 in a city they last played during their seminal Slippery When Wet tour at the Royal Court Theatre in 1986.

They will end the tour at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, where the band performed in 2006 and 2008 to acclaim.

“Those huge shows, tens of thousands of people all together as one, that’s what we do,” says Jon Bon Jovi, “And we’ve got a few things to put right by playing Wembley Stadium.  We were so excited to be the first band to play that new Stadium, I would have helped build it myself to make it happen. So we have a new history to write there. We’ve had some great nights at the Ricoh too.

“Throw in Anfield as a new venue – OK that’s just us showing off!  We’re honoured to play there and the first thing I’m doing is getting that iconic picture under the ‘This Is Anfield’ sign.”

The success of latest album This House Is Not For Sale, which debuted at the top of charts around the world, was the culmination of a tempestuous period in the band’s 3 decade history. A defiant statement, launched in a series of intimate shows in 2016 (including a memorable night at London’s famous Palladium), the album became the jumping off point for a new era for Jon Bon Jovi and his band.

And that band has evolved since their last global trip. 2013’s Because We Can World Tour, was their third tour in six years to be ranked the #1 top-grossing tour in the world (a feat accomplished by only The Rolling Stones previously).

This will be their first UK tour since 2013 when the band played 3 epic hours to launch the British Summer Time Hyde Park festival and headlined the Isle Of Wight Festival.

They will be joined in all UK dates by special guests – Manic Street Preachers.

The band now features Bon Jovi originals David Bryan and Tico Torres alongside Jon, plus long time bassist Hugh McDonald, co-producer and co-songwriter John Shanks, multi-instrumentalist Everett Bradley and lead guitarist Phil X, who joined the band on that 2013 tour. All were on stage for an emotional set at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction to add to a momentous year.

“We’ve become a new, rejuvenated Bon Jovi,” says Jon, “A refreshed line up that kills every night. We sound better than ever and we’re enjoying every minute. We are out there as a band, feeding off each other and the fans, having the time of our lives all over again.”

This tour places the spotlight firmly on the music and the songs, the body of work that has propelled Bon Jovi to over 130 million record sales. The band is ready with a choice of around 95 songs that they can change up every night, but has also been playing all time classics like “You Give Love A Bad Name”, “It’s My Life”, “Wanted Dead Or Alive”, “Bad Medicine”, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”, “Keep the Faith”,  “Always”, “Have A Nice Day” and of course, “Livin’ On A Prayer.”

TARA LEE DROPS SINISTER POP BANGER 'DRIVE' JUST IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN

Noir-pop newcomer and actress Tara Lee returns with a sinister new single ‘Drive’(listen here). The blood-dripping music video – described by Idolator as “a visual feast for lovers of the macabre” – arrives just in time for Halloween. The video was directed by Tara herself and it was inspired by a graphic scene in Adam Wingard’s arthouse horror The Guest (watch now).

The pulsating electronic-pop track hears Tara’s atmospheric vocals soar over neon-lit synths that channelsLadytron and Depeche Mode. She wrote ‘Drive’ with Hurts and Kylie Minogue’s producer Jonas Quant in Gothenburg, Sweden, after managing to convince him over Twitter to collaborate with her.

Tara, 23, hails from a musical family (her father is a film composer and brother, a music producer). She started writing while she trained as a dancer at the Dublin Performing Arts College. It wasn’t until Tara met Jonas on her first writing trip that she found a way to channel her inner pop star.

She said: “I had been writing by myself on piano since I was 15, and although that is my little addiction, I was never able to express this other side of my musicality – the dancing, running wild side. Starting with a beat and some synths, it will bring out a melody or subject matter I didn’t even know I wanted to talk about. I guess co-writing makes you look at yourself more.”

The subject she didn’t expect to write about stemmed from her experience of being slut-shamed as a teenager. ‘Drive’ was conjured when Tara reminisced on all the ‘crazy stories’ she had heard about herself. Much of the feminist undertones in her writing are fuelled by her perspective as a young woman in showbusiness. At 16, Tara catapulted into the national spotlight when she landed a starring role on RTE’s popular series Raw, where she played Emma Kelly for two seasons. Almost overnight came scrutiny about her appearance and perceptions based on the way she dressed.

Tara said: “I remember feeling unfairly judged. Most of these people who were talking about me had never even asked me a question. I think I felt that for a few years, people never saw me beneath a surface layer. So I got in my car at 2am, and I drove through the empty country lanes blasting 80s music – Madonna, Tears For Fears, Whitney Houston – and I felt fucking good. ‘Drive’ is about embracing your demons, even the ones that aren’t real. It’s saying, ‘You think that’s bad? You have no idea’.”

The single follows hot in the steps of Tara’s debut ‘Boyz’, which arrived in August 2018 after she signed a publishing deal with BMG. In the same month, she was featured in Live Nation’s ‘Female Artists to Watch For in 2019’ showcase along with Alice and Maeve in London. ‘Boyz’ earned Tara a place onSpotify’s New Talent playlist and kudos from tastemaker press. A formidable live performer described by Dublin Concerts as “modern, with genuine pop star stage presence”, Tara opened for Hurts on tour last year and is set to support Stealth at St Pancras Old Church, London, on 7 November.

She is currently writing and recording with Justin Broad (Emeli Sandé, Martin Garrix), Blair MacKichan (Sia, Paloma Faith) and Jonas Quant. Tara cites David BowieMassive Attack, Blondie and Nick Caveas her main influences.

Further to her music, Tara is one to watch in the film and television world. She has starred alongside Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan in the cult BBC drama The Fall and appeared in two critically-acclaimed films: Moon Dogs (which picked up a slew of international awards) and A Date for Mad Mary(IFTA Award for Best Picture). Tara also recently starred in a lead storyline on the popular BBC drama Eastenders, playing the mysterious newcomer Jessica.

ALED JONES & RUSSELL WATSON Announce their first collaboration IN HARMONY

On November 9th 2018, Aled Jones and Russell Watson, two of the world’s greatest classical voices, come together to release their debut album In Harmony, out via BMG.  The pair will take to the stage together for their first joint UK and Ireland tour throughout September and October next year.

Having moved in the same circles for nearly 20 years and since becoming firm friends; Aled approached Russell to collaborate for his next big project. The album features a wealth of well-loved hymns, arias, and popular songs – ranging from stunning arrangements of “Ave Maria” – to more modern classics such as “You Raise Me Up”.Ian Tilley, who has worked with some of the biggest names in classical-crossover including Hayley Westenra, who has sold millions worldwide, platinum selling All Angels, The Choirboys and Libera, produced the record. Internationally renowned composer Sir Karl Jenkins wrote one of the tracks “Bright Horizons” especially for Aled and Russell.

The first single, “Where Have All The Flowers Gone/Here’s To The Heroes”, is a timely tribute celebrating the centenary of the end of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of the NHS – to the men and woman who inspired a generation.

Aled says, “We loved the idea of honouring service men and women through our music – as well as our everyday heroes such as doctors and nurses.”

In Harmony is the end product from two artists born with a predestined compatibility. Here, both Aled and Russell have embraced the spirit of collaboration and friendship, whilst each bringing their own sky-high level of talent to the table to create this beautiful record.

Of the album, Russell says, “What I particularly like is the way that it is not just a collaboration as such where I sing a verse, Aled sings a verse and everybody joins in on the chorus. It’s been really cleverly written and arranged so that our voices blend really well.”

Aled adds, “This album has created a real excitement for me – singing songs I don’t normally perform on my own. Recording ‘Volare’ with Russell was a hoot!”

Their instinctive understanding of one another is easy to hear. From the grandiose “Volare”a creative rendition of Dean Martin’s jazzy number, to closer “Silent Night”, the album’s heartfelt closer combining ethereal tones of the flute with the rich baritone vocals of Aled and tenor vocals of Russell – the pair’s natural chemistry exudes throughout, complimented by force and grandeur of the orchestra.

In Harmony will be released November 9th via BMG.

Also announced, Aled and Russell will be taking the record on the road for their first ever joint UK and Ireland tour throughout September and October 2019, bringing their live experience to some of the country’s most beautiful venues including the London Palladium, Gateshead Sage and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Dates below.

Tickets go on general sale here at 9am on Friday 19th October

As two of the classical world’s vocal powerhouses, Aled and Russell have received countless prestigious awards, record-breaking sales and chart successes. Over his extraordinary 30 year career, Aled’s outstanding performances have made smash-hit box office history. He is the original crossover star and has sung for the Pope and the Royal Family, received an MBE, released over 30 albums – with over 10 million album sales and counting – and has over 40 silver, gold and platinum discs. After beginning his career at the age of 12, Aled became one of the world’s most successful boy sopranos, releasing 12 hit albums in 4 years with the defining moment being ‘Walking in the Air’, the hit song from the family-favourite, Christmas animated film ‘The Snowman’.

As a broadcaster, Aled has forged an extensive career, having presented across BBC Radio 2 & 3 and BBC Radio Wales. Aled also hosts the Classic FM Sunday Breakfast Show and has become a popular favourite on the station and enjoyed his own show ITV Weekend.

Despite humble beginnings, Russell’s exceptional voice has led him to become one of Britain’s most popular and biggest-selling classical stars – triumphing on both sides of the Atlantic, spending fifty-two consecutive weeks at No.1 in the UK and the US classical charts at the same time. With over seven million albums sold, he has achieved six top ten albums and received four Classic BRIT Awards.

Like Aled, Russell has performed for some of the world’s most notable figures including the Royal Family, the Pope, former US presidents Bill Clinton and George W Bush, the Emperor of Japan and in front a of a worldwide audience of one billion at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in 2002.

Aled and Russell’s friendship began almost 20 years ago. Their instant camaraderie and professional mutual admiration made for the perfect pairing and, no doubt, to the delight of their hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe, they are happy to announce their first album together, In Harmony- A testament to the popularity and talent of the UK’s finest classical voices, featuring a cherry-picked repertoire of personal favourites.

ALFIE BOE Announces UK Tour

One of the world’s greatest classical singers Alfie Boe brings it back to the UK, announcing a 2019 tour in what is becoming another landmark year for the much loved tenor. Last month, Alfie revealed his return to the solo spotlight with the release of his vibrant and instantly classic album As Time Goes By.

The record will be released on 23rd November, and celebrates the golden era of music from the 30s and 40s, a time that is often overlooked – sandwiched as it is between the roaring twenties and rock ‘n’ roll.

Alfie is one of the best-loved vocalists of his generation and a hugely successful, multi-platinum selling artist. He has triumphed on theatre stages and in concert halls around the world and has two recent UK #1 albums under his belt for albums ‘Together’ and ‘Together Again’, made with his great friend Michael Ball. The duo also won two Classic BRIT Awards earlier this year for ‘Best Album’ and ‘Group of the Year’.

“I’m excited to get back on the road, especially with a new record that I’m so proud of. These songs are at their best when performed live!” says Alfie

He adds, “We’ll be enjoying some of great songs from my previous records, but I more than anything want to bring back to life an era when British audiences discovered a brand new kind of American music, full of energy, optimism and romance. I’d like to transport people to a time in their lives, a moment or even a style. I hope you all enjoy being transported there as much as I do!”

The tour will take place March and April next year, kicking off in Cardiff on 18th March, followed by a series of shows in some of the UK’s most stunning venues including the Liverpool Philharmonic, Brighton Dome and before coming to a close at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 17th April.

Tickets go on general sale 10am on Friday 19th October. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale at 10am on Wednesday 17th October and can be accessed by pre-ordering Alfie’s new album ‘As Time Goes By’ from www.HMV.com by 11.59pm on Monday 15th October.

CHRYSALIS RECORDS REPORTS HUGE GROWTH SINCE BLUE RAINCOAT ACQUISTION

Chrysalis Records, acquired just over two years ago from Warner Music by Blue Raincoat Music, today announces major growth since the label came back into independent ownership. Blue Raincoat was formed and is led by Jeremy Lascelles and Robin Millar.

In the latest Q2 figures, Chrysalis reports a turnover topping £3.675m for the year to June 2018. This is in marked contrast to the legendary label’s performance in the nine months pre the June 2016 sale, with a turnover of just £205,000.

Artists on the Chrysalis roster include The Specials, Sinead O’Connor, The Waterboys, Ten Years After, Grant Lee Buffalo, Lucinda Williams, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Steve Harley, Fun Boy Three, Ultravox and the Two Tone label.

Prior to Blue Raincoat buying the label, streaming stood at around 250,000 streams per day. In line with their proposed strategy to ensure Chrysalis was fit for the digital world the streams are currently hitting the 1 million per day mark – a staggering 100% year on year rise across two years. These numbers have outstripped market performance by over 3 to 1, even in a landscape that has seen the massive growth of streaming in recent years.

Earlier this month at the AIM Awards the Blue Raincoat artist roster received seven nominations, making it the independent company with the most nominations this year. On the night there were wins for Phoebe Bridgers as International Breakthrough Act and Let’s Eat Grandma as Best Sophomore Album. In addition, Tracey Thorn of Everything But The Girl, who signed a long-term global licensing agreement with Chrysalis Records in 2017, was recognised for her Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Jeremy Lascelles, CEO Blue Raincoat Music and Chrysalis Records said,

“From day one, we set out to create an integrated music company, combining a high quality catalogue with the contemporary acts we manage or sign to our publishing arm. This model is reflected in the success we are now having across such a diverse array of talent. When we acquired Chrysalis Records, it had had three different owners over the previous five years, so perhaps had been slightly neglected. We knew that it would require a lot of love and attention to get it into shape. It’s therefore very pleasing that the hard work is now really starting to pay off which is a tribute to all the team here at Blue Raincoat.”
