Fresh from supporting Katy Perry on her world tour, Oh Land is to return to the UK to perform at London’s Heaven nightclub on Thursday 23rd February.

The Danish singer has had a busy year since performing at Glastonbury in the UK last summer. As well as her top 20 debut album in the US, she has featured on the Gym Class Heroes song ‘Life Goes On’ and graced the pages of Vogue in both the UK and the US.

Oh Land is a hotly tipped act by NME and will play Heaven as part of the magazine’s NME Awards Show tour, supported by new UK act Alunageorge. She has previously graced the stages of Coachella, SXSW, and the Berlin Festival with her kooky style and unique sound.

Oh Land was born and bred on the outskirts of Copenhagen. A disciplined ballet dancer who was educated with the Royal Danish and Royal Swedish Ballet schools coupled with a “circus-like” upbringing courtesy of a family of creative souls.

Used to pushing the boundaries of her talent, Oh Land relocated to Brooklyn at the beginning of 2010 and has worked with Dan Carey (The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip) and Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode, Beyonce, AFI).

Critical acclaim for her shows, and a residency at New York’s intimate Charles Bank Gallery have had critics and fans raving, and now Oh Land is set to bring her ‘magnetic charisma’ back to the UK.

‘Oh Land’ is the name on everybody’s lips. Having already been number 1 on Hype Machine twice, tipped by the NME, Dazed and Popjustice, with a top 20 debut album in the US, Oh Land releases her album in September. Since making a splash on the US music scene, Oh Land has been in demand. Pharrell, Kanye John Legend and Magnetic Man all got in touch, which led to studio sessions last year with each of them.

SHE IS SET TO SUPPORT KATY PERRY ON HER UK TOUR IN OCTOBER

‘Oh Land’ is the name on everybody’s lips. Having already been number 1 on Hype Machine twice, tipped by the NME, Dazed and Popjustice, with a top 20 debut album in the US, Oh Land releases her new single ‘White Nights’ on October 3rd, and the album ‘Oh Land’ on October 10th.

Oh Land was born and bred on the outskirts of Copenhagen. A disciplined ballet dancer who was educated with the Royal Danish and Royal Swedish Ballet schools coupled with a “circus-like” upbringing courtesy of a family of creative souls. An injury left her housebound, which encouraged her to express herself in a different way – she wrote and produced her first album ‘Fauna’ which ended up being released by Scandinavian tastemaker/producer/DJ, Kasper Bjorke.

Her approach to songwriting reaches beyond melody to touch on shared experience; her music simultaneously incorporates the whirrs, tics, and thumps of machinery and the soft, human tug of strings and delicately layered vocals. Her new single ‘White Nights’ features this dual quality of her music – human, yet otherworldly; a mid tempo, electro-infused, drum-driven song that bursts into a chorus of ethereal, floating vocals and soaring synths.

Used to pushing the boundaries of her talent, Oh Land relocated to Brooklyn at the beginning of 2010 to write the latest chapters of her whirlwind story: an ever-evolving album that features speaker-panning samples, honeyed hooks, and the knob-twiddling skills of Dan Carey (The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip) and Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode, Beyoncé, AFI). Following her recent shows, to rave reviews, at SXSW and a residency at New York’s intimate Charles Bank Gallery have had critics and fans raving and now she’s set to bring her ‘magnetic charisma’ back to the UK.

Since making a splash on the US music scene, Oh Land has been in demand. Pharrell, Kanye John Legend and Magnetic Man all got in touch, which led to studio sessions last year with each of them. After wowing crowds at YOYO and Scala earlier this year, she is returning to play two UK shows in May – The Great Escape Festival on the 14th May, and XOYO on the 17th May.

This is the girl to watch.
