** Gig to take place in the iconic Debating Chamber at County Hall on 7th June**

Gary Kemp, singer, songwriter, guitarist, actor and author is kicking off the first of the “Standard Sessions”. These events, sponsored by The Evening Standard, will be a regular date on the live music calendar and will feature the cream of musical talent, in the iconic surroundings of the Debating Chamber at London’s County Hall. The event on Tuesday 7th June starts at 8.15pm and is backed by PRS for Music.

Gary Kemp, The iconic British songwriter behind such global hits as ‘True’, ‘Through The Barricades’, To Cut A Long Story Short’ and ‘Gold’, is honoured to have been invited to appear in front of an intimate group of fans at the Thames-side venue. A limited amount of tickets are available for this very special intimate event which will see Gary talking about his career, performing a few classic acoustic tracks and reading from his 2009 autobiography ‘I know this much: From Soho to Spandau’. He will talk about his career in music and film, his songwriting and his memories of growing up in London, the city he is still proud to call home.

As Gary says: ”As a proud Londoner, it is such an honour to be the first to be invited to perform at the Standard Sessions. The building itself is such an integral part of the London landscape. The London Film Museum is housed in there along with the amazing debating chamber.”

Inspired by funk, electronica, glam rock and soul, Gary Kemp and Spandau Ballet dominated the charts throughout the 1980’s with multi million selling singles and albums. The band had 23 hit singles and sold 25 million albums worldwide and touring to their global fanbase. As lead guitarist and chief songwriter, Gary was at the creative centre of not only the band, but also the entire New Romantic movement, helping to create the soundtrack of a generation.

After Spandau Ballet, he followed another one of his passions, acting, starring in films including the critically acclaimed British cult classic ‘The Krays’, with his own brother Martin and alongside Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston in ‘The Bodyguard’. Gary also appeared in numerous theatrical productions onstage. In 1996, Gary recorded a highly acclaimed solo album for Sony records, Little Bruises.

2009 saw one of the most anticipated band reunions ever become reality as Spandau Ballet once again embarked on a sell out worldwide tour, which included 3 sell-out nights at London’s O2 Arena and a crowd-thrilling show-stealer at the Isle of Wight Festival.
