Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park: Day One
Headlining the first day was Massive Attack, who performed a music medley of their all time classics. Reggae legend and wheelchair-bound Horace Andy also joined the group on stage to perform before being wheeled off to head back to hospital.
TV on the Radio warmed up the crowd beautifully in the late afternoon, and Patti Smith blew fans away in the main arena with her reading of Allen Ginsberg’s iconic poem “Footnote to Howl” before beginning her explosive set. Ghostpoet followed shortly by Warpaint, both rocked out over on the Barclaycard Stage.
Celebrity guests who enjoyed the music included Daisy Lowe, Sienna Miller, Laura Whitmore, Rafferty Law and Eliza Dootlitte. Damon Albarn, who headlined in 2015, was also spotted dancing at the front during Massive Attack’s set!
Early afternoon performances from artists such as Shura, Kiko Bun and The Cuban Brothers went down a treat at the Casa Bacardi and Barclaycard Stages. During the smattering of showers revelers sheltered in the onsite pub ‘The Rose & Crown’. The selection of street food is second to none this year, with over 50 stalls scattered across the site, including London’s favourite burger-flippers Patty & Bun and homeslices Pizza Pilgrims.
